"Cool Ipod mini 2nd generatin" on by lwinbo
Pros: slim, easy to hold, bright, long life, protect scert,
Cons: No FM, no color selection for 8GB, Price
Summary: B4 I used to have Sony, it is suck because the headphone jack trouble me twice a year. Finally, I gave up to reservice and decide to get the new Ipod. Since I bought this Ipod, I can enjoy it. It is slim and good design, long battery life, easy to hold it. However, I cannot use FM.
It doesn't matter about video in Ipod because I don't want to watch movie with small screen. Sound quality is also good. But I prefer creative sound quality Zen V plus which is owned by my frieds. I am happy to put Ipod in my pocket, and enjoy the music when I bore. I don't know it will make me happy for long term. I hope it will. -
"well, i'm sold." on by teenheartbeat
Pros: feels great in the hand, new colors, more capacity, longer battery life
Cons: price, 8gb only in black, headphone jack placement
Summary: i'm one of the few people you'll meet that does not have an mp3 player. i've had an increased interest in buying one lately, but i've been torn over a large number of things.
do i want large capacity or small form factor?
do i want an ipod i can depend on or a unique player that no one else has?
my mother already has an ipod and i have A LOT of my music uploaded to it, and one of my biggest concerns was getting these songs onto an mp3 player of my own. it was this realization that eventually sealed the deal for me.
i'm big on individuality, and everyone (i mean everyone.) at my school has an ipod nano. or at least an ipod. the thing is, they don't have THIS nano. i think apple was so intelligent to bring back the multiple color idea, because if nothing else this is a way to personalize the most popular player on the market. they also made the colors more vivid and shiny, with the exception of the green which is still rather pea-colored and unattractive. at the same time, i think apple was rather dumb to give us the option of 8gb with only black as a choice.
the form factor isn't incredibly different from the old nanos, which i could talk about forever. i adore them! they feel fabulous to hold in the hand.
as far as video, i don't really understand the whole mp3/video combo because i never think to myself "i wish i could just watch a movie" when i'm away from a television. the same applies to radio, i just don't listen to radio so i have no gripes about the fact that apple didn't include it.
and concerning the cliche of having an apple, i discovered gelaskins through cnet and this was one of the most important things in my decision. these skins are pricey but they come in wonderful designs and provide protection without adding bulk to the fabulous body of the nano.
most other small-capacity players don't have the appeal of the nano. the zen v is too toy-like for my taste, and the clix maxes out at 2gb. most other players have ugly designs and stupid interfaces, or are made by sony and are plagued by sonicstage. larger-capacity players made by smaller companies usually do alot better overall (the gigabeat almost had me sold, but the lack of carrying cases and the fact that all of my other music would be unrecoverable made me change my mind), but i decided that 30 gb and up just isn't for me.
props to apple, because you have made a believer of me. -
"This is one of the worst MP3 players in the market." on by SkylineGTRspecII
Pros: Very fast scrolling search. But who cares, when most people shuffle their songs.
Cons: The headphones are horrible. The sound quality is so so so nasty, it gets distorted 100% on bass booster and some less distortion on other EQ's.
Summary: The headphones fall out very easily and the quality very stinks. I perfer the Sony MDR-EX51 model and higher. The design is so so ugly. I hate how its think with the curve edges, and the top and bottom of it, the whole thing looks very ugly to be honest.1st nano looks alot better. The battery life is very bad. I also hate the fact that all ipods cannot not be opened by the user. One good thing about this player is the scrolling feature like always. And the price for this is way too expensive. Im expecting around 80 dollars. afterall, we all know for sure that its really not worth around 150 or higher. its expensive because its popular. I highly reccomend the Sony NW-E507, NW-E005 series, and the new NW-S705L, which is the first mp3 player in the world having a built in active noise cancelling technology. The sound quality is squat compared to sony products. Oh, and one more thing, the batter life they talk about on the ipods are not right in my experiences. They say 18 hr for first nano. max is 10 hours or less. and this says 24 hours which is probably 14 hrs or less. Sony NW series say 28hrs for e005 and 50 hrs for nw-e507!!! And its a fact, its true what they say about battery life. and its replace battery that is user replacable, unlike ipod's alienish covers that cannot change battery when battery runs out of charging limits. Itunes is a nightmare, sonicstage is so much simpler. Sonicestage 4 transfers music faster than itunes. There are times where i really wanted to throw the ipod in a pond. Here's the order i think that are from bad to excellent products. RCA-Creative-iPod-iRiver-Rio-Archo-Phillips-
Sony-
Sandisk(i think Sansa is the best mp3 player ever invented, following the Sony).
