"Apple cashing in yet again..."
Pros: Carries the iPod brand name... Trendy.
Cons: Everything about it scratches too easily... Outdated technology,
Summary: Tired of many companies doing this. It's not hard at all to release a product in many different colors from the start. This is just another way of cashing in on the Nano's outdated technology.

First off, apple is not cashing in yet again. Instead they're listening to all of the moronic pundits out there whom complained about the previouse Nano being a "scratch magnet." On top of that they've upped the capacities from 1GB, 2GB and 4GB to 2, 4 and 8GB; and they've even dropped the price points for each. In my case I/m not going to run out and buy one immediately because, I have a first gen Nano and it works fine. To anyone looking for a new mp3 player I would highly suggest this product.

Okay let me break this down to you in three things.
1) The new iPod nano case, which is aluminum, is much more substantial than the old alloy case I believe it was. The only way you can make a scratch on it is if it scratches on a pair of keys or anything sharp like that!
2) The technology is WAY updated! How many MP3 players do you know of that have a flash drive as thin as a pencil? Also, even though this doesn't hold videos or anything big like that, it can hold photos, play slideshows, NOW play games, play/shuffle music, and the list goes on. This is a HIGHER standard in technology FYI!
3) And my final thing to say is the fact that iPod WASN'T meant to be a meaningless, cult-like name! I would be proud to carry this around not to fit in, but because its got an APPLE on the back! Apple is a MUCH HIGHER standard than any other product in the world!
I could go on for hours about this, but I felt I needed to comment and tell you the fact that the iPod is an updated, stronger, higher standard device that I believe NO ONE can top. "I rest my case your honor!" -
I can't get enough of Cnet lauding over everything apple... They really are a bunch of fanboys over here... I love the line about apple cleaning up its act and thinking about the environment when anyone who has purchased any apple product (ipod included) knows they all came (or come) with ridiculous amounts of waste packaging. Good job for pointing that one out Cnet but hey better late than never. As for everyone I hear telling me recording and FM capabilities don't matter..... get that head out of the sand!

Aluminum casing means no scratches... I had the mini for 2 years in my pocket... and its almost as when it was new... give it a rest and just buy yourself an ipod....

I have the black 8 gig one - it does NOT scratch easily. The only part i might worrry about is the display, otherwise, one week in my pocket, no scratches at all.
