"Poor Apple"
Pros: Battery life
Cons: To minute to list here
Summary: The new Ipod nano is a joke. Its ugly, apple still have not learn how to put f.m radio or voice recorder on this thing. No SDHC slot. No bluetooth, this thing has no cutting edge technology just like the i phone. They put video on it and everyone goes crazy. when the zen, sandisk and samsung had that long time ago. Even bestbuy brand mp3 has bluetooth. As a sales rep at best buy i really see apple losing alot of market. The Samsung, Creative and Sandisk are bringing the heat this year.

First of all, I hate Best Buy. I hate to drag in your place of business, but Circuit City is far superior, and I don't work there! They have better customer service and make shopping easy.
Second of all, I know mp players better than the average Joe and though I do admit to its flaws (see my review, "Great upgrade from second gen, DVD decrypt?") I still find it superior to others. There is no doubt that some of the others are very good, even great, the iPod nano is amazing.
Listen, the NANO is only $150. You can't expect to have these high quality features on Apple's middle-of-the-road product. Now, if you posted this under the Classic, then I'd agree with you. But, we have to think about the price.
I do think these features belong on the classic, but are unnecessary on the Nano. -
The reason Apple has had so much success in the MP3 department is because they cling to simplicity and ease of use. Adding SDHC would not only confuse some buyers but it would also add a clunky feature to the OS which would likely be just a folder labeled "External Memory" where users could just dump a bunch of files in an unorganized manner. I have owned a variety of MP3 players, primarily Creative and Apple, and I have never used an FM feature.
The fact that you brought up Insignia invalidates your entire point as the products of that company have perhaps the worst GUIs of any portables, and feel like they were made in a high school engineering class. I'm surprised Best Buy still manages to make money off the PMPs they sell on those things. -
Not that your opinion matters or anything, but please do try and use proper grammer when posting reviews. Also, just because you can't afford an ipod dosn't mean it's not awesome. Who really cares about voice recording and f.m. radios? Isn't that why most people buy mp3 players in the first place, because most radio stations suck? People love ipods because they are simple and elegant in design, but I guess that's just too much for you simple minded fools. So why don't you just take your bad taste and grammer to some other website and spread your stupidity there! Maybe your piece of **** samsung voice recording, radio playing mp3 can accompany you.

I just recently sold out and bought one of these new nanos because I've never had an mp3 player and was tired of not having easy access to my many song files at the gym and in the car. My main reason for hesitating to buy one for so long is that I thought that wearing wired headphones reminded me of being in middle school back in the 80s with cassette walkmans. 20 years later with all of the advances we've made, people still see no problem having wires dangling from their heads? I was adamant about finding an mp3 player that would support Bluetooth and the Insignia brand was the only one I could find. I was about to pull the trigger, but I read a review about searching being a laborious process and the scrolling being apt to overshoot. Plus all of my friends telling me that iPods were the "way to go".
I too would have very much appreciated at least an FM tuner for listening to ESPN at the gym and AM for ballgames. What puzzles me is that if you go to the iPod's music menu settings, there is an option for "Radio", but it never appears in the menu when selected. It's like they intended to put one in and then yanked it, but left the menu option in the code.
And yes, the ability to take voice recordings or written notes and an SD card would have been welcome additions. I use my phone for any note taking so that wasn't too high on my priority list. -
I've seen and heard so many reviews of every iPod that comes out complaining about no radio. I have an iPod so that I don't have to listen to the radio! Thanks to the iPod & my TiVo, I haven't had to deal with commercials in 3 years.
I had a Palm Treo that played music (with an SD card slot), and I quickly tired of using it as a music player. Who wants to deal with trading cards in and out, keeping them with you, etc. I bought more than a couple of iPods during the same time that I had that Treo. Now, I've happily traded the Treo & iPod for an iPhone, so the convergence just keeps marching on. -
What the hell do you want for 150 bucks?
A 4 gig player with video playback is pretty good. It's obviously not going to have Bluetooth or WiFi.
That's like expecting a 8800 GTX to come with a 600 dollar Dell.
