    "Upgraders beware!!!!!!!" on by jukeaces

Pros: The iPod touch is one of the coolest devices out there.

Cons: Will not charge on many existing accessory's.

Summary: I just upgraded from an 8 GB first generation to a 32 gig second generation iPod touch and it will not charge on most existing speakers and accessory's (Itrip, docking stations, FM transmitters ect.) This is a hardware change that Apple made that only allows USB charging. This rendered many hundreds of dollars worth of my equipment useless! I am sure Apple will be happy to sell you all new accessorys. I'll be returning mine. Apple, What were you thinking?????

Really that is strange because on my docking system it works fine... sorry about that. you should get a nano 5th generation.

the same with the new iPod nano (the one with the camera). It won't charge on the itrip and it won't work with the Altec Lansing im600 Specker system.

I own a 3rd generation iPod Touch and unlike this reviewer I can still use a power supply with a USB 2 charging output to charge the device even when it wasn't even designed for any iPod. I came with a Kensington extra battery to extend battery life of portable devices.
However, I've found a minor incompatibility with a Belkin dock station designed forthe iPod video 5G. Even though it is directly powered by its own power supply it seems that the iPod can't be charged unless I plug the dock to the computer. In contrast i could charge my previous iPod video without having to plug the dock to the computer. Something seems to have been changed in the firewire-like iPod connector.

Sorry to differ with your statement on USB only charging - I successfully charged my new iTouch with Apple's IPOD AC charger. Continued in USB to laptop so I could sync it at same time.

The touch will charge using any available USB to iPod cable.

Hi am I to take it that your Itouch will not charge from the normal AC wall charger that I have for my older version Ipod. I was hoping to use them as I have one for the car one for the computer and being lazy I have a charger in my study and one in the family room so I can charge Ipod while watching TV or reading the paper. I thought that the plug on all I phone ipod i touch were all the same.
