"Immidiete Problems"
Pros: Line in - Line out, Plug and play harddrive
Cons: completely crashed
Summary: I should have known I was headed for trouble when it started to skip and freeze on one of my mp3 music files when I was adjusting the volume. I thought the file might be bad and deleted it from the hard drive. For files I put on the drive it was a combination of individual mp3's from insound.com, mp3 files of my indie radio show (now lost), and copies of some cd's I ripped with freerip. Today it once again started to skip when I adjusted the volume, and froze. Shutting the unit down I feared the worst when it froze on the de-pixelization of the Coby logo during shut-down. Plugging it into the dc charger confirmed my worst fears. It did not light up and recognize the charger. Same with the USB, so all files are now lost. Contacting Coby they said that any music with copywrite protection will corrupt the player. As this is my first player I guess you can't copy your own music cd's you purchased onto a player. That's a disapointment because I thought that was what these players are for. Anyways, the first time this unit malfunctioned was on the first batch of files I had downloaded from insound.com who offer up their files for your private use. So the player is at fault. My opinion, it is a bad player which has some bad firmware. I hope the replacement will work, but I'm expecting more of the same. The worst, of course, is half my library of self-produced radio shows are now lost.Updated
