Cowon D2 (8GB, black)

"I love it." on by fliv
Pros: Sd card slot, flash memory, flac playback, flash skins
Cons: I am not sure if it supports 16gb sd cards
Summary: This player is easy to use and plays my flac files so I don't have to keep two files (flac for archiving and mp3 for listening) for each song I own.

"Super awesome sound, plus other great stuff" on by SureThingBuddy
Pros: not free. cannot play MPEG-4 AVC
Cons: not as awesome as the Q5W
Summary: The ONLY player with better sound quality (and some extra features) is the Cowon Q5W. period. If you don't want to spend $600 on a Q5W, then the D2 is for you.
Sadly neither can play MPEG-4 AVCUpdated
I will ___NEVER___ buy a DRM platform. D2 is not afflicted with DRM. Your DRM damaged media will not play on Cowon gear.
Upgrade to FLAC format and listen happily! -
"An amazing little device" on by styleline52
Pros: SOUND QUALITY battery life
Cons: gui is lacking
Summary: I held off buying this player because of the touch screen , I dont really like touch interfaces and would much rather have tactile buttons, but I finally gave in and the sound quality and battery life makes this the best player I have owned. I use my player a lot when I drive and blind control is a very valuable part for me and luckily you can set the buttons for most controls.
If you are looking for an extreemly tweakable and excellent sounding player this is the one. The D2 makes my shure E500's come alive.
The only thing I find I dont like about the player is the user interface and I guess I am looking for the perfect player. My zune 30 and all zunes have the best interface of any player, Period. Too bad the zune is lacking in other areas(battery life and sound control). Looks like I have the perfect player for me ..for now -
"Decent player, but doesn't live up to the hype" on by gilliamrb
Pros: Okay, this player had biiiig potential, especially with support for FLAC and many other A/V codecs, as well as expandable memory and all.
Cons: However, it's interface is horrriid! I mean I know it's a touch player, but my god, the firmware on this really blow for both audio and video. It's a choir to do much of anything. No hard buttons (which is sadly becoming mainstream).
Summary: If you do anything at all, don't buy this player...Okay, if you REALLY enjoy your ipod touch/iphone and don't mind not being able to blindly change your music, then this player gives you FLAC and such which is nice. But, again, I really disliked the interface, can't say it enough.

"Fantastic sound, great player" on by marnbob
Pros: Fantastic sound, nice bright screen.
Cons: No external controls to move to pause/play, previous or next song, must use touch screen interface
Summary: Great all-around MP3 player for audiophiles.
