"Shouldn't be editors choice"
Pros: size, capacity
Cons: battery life
Summary: This unit is nice and small and has some decent features however there are units out there now that in the same size and capacity class that have more options and better battery life.
The iRiver IFP-899 (which is what the U2's design appears to be based on) is a 1G player which comes in many other capacities.
The differences:
40 hour battery life on a single AA
FM Tuner has a timer option for recording
Sleep mode
Voice recorder
Line in recorder
More playback modes, such as for audio books, A+B loop, 3 programmable play lists and more
EQ settings galore plus a user based and 2 3D sound

There is something fishy about this posting. It sounds angry and therefore bias, besides there are many factual errors. And having a AA battery is not a plus but a minus to those who are concerned about the environment.

Reviews based on erroneous impressions, like this one, shouldn't count in the overall user rating, as they give a false idea of the product - presumably even in the original reviewer's opinion, once the errors have been pointed out to him/her.

Well that...

Besides iAudio having all the features (infact more ) mentioned by you, there is one major difference between the two. Before your computer can recognise the iRiver MP3 player as an external disk, you need to install iRiver propietory software in your computer. This is troublesome for most users. You simply plug & play IAudio MP3 player to your computer and voila it is recognised as an external disk. Then afterwards you can easily transfer data from your computer to your player or vice versa.

The iAudio has every feature you listed. You must not have looked very hard at the menu options... It even has a separate button for A+B recording.
The only difference is that it gets 15 hours on a rechargeable battery, so you don't waste AA's.
