"This player, although not perfect, provides great bang for the buck! Highly recommended!"

Pros: Recognized as a drive on the computer; easy to create playlists using Explorer; very compact; nice user interface (not too confusing;) good battery life; great sound with upgraded headphones!

Cons: Bad headphones; voice recording is muffled if sound is not close to mic (no gain controls;) FM recording is not great, but gets the job done; could be a touch louder (although it is still plenty loud)

Summary: I bought an iriver iFP-899 and I returned it mainly because of the fact that it is not recognized as a drive on the computer. Software had to be installed so that it could be used with Windows Media Player. I thought that this was extremely goofy and very limiting to an otherwise great device. Clumsy and confusing controls were a problem, too. Otherwise it had superior voice recording capabilities compared to the N200 and better FM recording. It also probably had slightly better sound. There were other gripes that I had as well, but they are minor.
So, in the end, I returned it to Best Buy and got my $200 back. I then went to Circuit City and purchased two N200's for $100 a piece (after rebates)--one for my wife and one for myself. Aside from mediocre voice and FM recording, I absolutely love this little player. The fact that it is recognized as a drive on the computer and that files can easily be copied straight to it make it worth its' weight in gold! I also love it's relatively simple user interface that's a lot less complicated than the iriver.
If you buy one of these, the first thing that you need to do is chuck the headphones because they are crap--they sound muddy and there are severe dips in certain frequencies so that you can't even hear some of the music. I would highly recommend the Sennheiser PX-100's--they sound awesome and are portable.
I would recommend this to anybody considering getting the iPod Shuffle. Even though the screen is small on the N200, it's better than not having a screen at all. Battery life is better than the Shuffle (15-20 hours vs. 12) and the AAA battery can be easily replaced.
