"Best portable flash player out there" on by Nik_I
Pros: just about everything
Cons: strangely large battery unit
Summary: this is the best flash player out there. it gets great battery life, quite loud and great sound, and I really like the fact that you don't need a USB cable to plug it into your pc; it's all built in. the only thing I dont like is how big the battery pack is. it's larger than the entire rest of the player, but overall, very, very good. and good price for it now too.

"I can't recommend this player highly enough" on by wlrube
Pros: Very durable, intuitive, and convenient -- AND USES STANDARD AAA BATTERIES
Cons: Menu is a bit cluttered, controls a tad too small
Summary: I got an earlier, LCD-less version of this player from my aunt, a freebie stamped with her company's logo, and liked it so much that I upgraded to this device. The primary reason I like it is that I can slip it into my pocket and manipulate the controls without even looking at it. With larger mp3 players, particularly the iPod, if you try to do anything without looking at the device, you'll get lost in some menu somewhere. The controls on this device are easy to use and remember. The little "joystick" (for lack of a better word) is a bit small, but it's still easy to locate, remember, and use, and I got used to it in no time.
Physically, this player is ingeniously designed: pop it out of the battery module and it becomes a flash drive, no cables necessary.
Also, this player is very durable. Often, I'll be in a hurry on my way to school and I'll drop the player on the sidewalk, the earbuds will jump out of my ear, and it'll skid down a hill, but when I catch up to it and put the earbuds back in, the music will be playing as if nothing happened.
The menu, accessible by pushing down on the joystick, offers music, radio, recording, equalizers, and others I haven't tried to use. Unless you want to, say, switch to shuffle mode or listen to radio, you don't need to use it at all, and if you do, you only have to use it for a few seconds. It doesn't feel like a "menu" a la iPod so much as a way of tweaking what you're listening to. The player's home is in playing mode, not in the menu, and that's the way I like it in this kind of device.
Overall, as I said, I can't recommend this player highly enough. If you need a place to store your music collection, look at an iPod or one of the iPod clones on the market, but if you're looking for a quick, convenient, inexpensive way to listen to music on the go, this is the device for you.
Finally, a note for people who are choosing between this and an iPod Shuffle. I have used friends' Shuffles, and this is a far superior device. Several reasons for this opinion:
1) It uses standard AAA batteries you can get at the convenience store, so you can use it for years. Apple iPods have never come with replaceable batteries, and the cost of their "replacement service" is as much as a new Shuffle, anyway.
2) It has more features, particularly radio; I consider radio an especially vital feature on small players like this. If you're on a long trip and don't have access to your computer, radio opens up a world of music where you'd otherwise have to hear the same songs over and over again. The Shuffle could have easily included radio without making it too much bulkier or more complicated.
3) This seems trivial, but it isn't: the little cap that protects the USB connector on the iPod shuffle is extremely loseable. You can pop it off without thinking about it (especially if you're the fidgety type like me) and you'll notice it's gone five or ten minutes later. With the MuVo, each of the two parts is essential -- one supplies the music, one contains the battery -- and they stay together or else the music stops. And they won't come apart unless you're consciously trying to take them apart.
4) Three letters: L, C, and D. -
"Great but fragile with time" on by smash
Pros: Excellent design - small.. Everything I want in an MP3 player
Cons: Plastic cover fell off; the joystick broke...
Summary: After having this player for like a year and a half now, the joystick broke off.. So now I can just play/pause, control volume.. and use it as a flash drive.. 90% of the time that's all I need anyway

Good MP3 player.. still -
"Amazing MP3 Player in the beginning but later got worse" on by wabsrck
Pros: Small, Lightweight, no cord to carry around
Cons: flimsy, breaks easy
Summary: I got this MP3 Player as my first and it worked great for the first year or so. I had to get it fixed once because it wouldn't play anymore but I could still use it as a flash drive. After a year things started to get worse. The LCD screen cracked in half but is still readable. The battery cover is flimsy and the little piece of plastic that held it on came off and now it is lost in the wash somewhere and the headphone jack doesn't hold very well anymore. I really like this MP3 player till it got past warranty and then it just became breakable. I only put this through moderate use and I didn't get an armband for it

"Great Little Player" on by rhoskins
Pros: Long battery life, great sound, no cable needed
Cons: no playlist support
Summary: This thing is great! It plugs directly into the usb port, can use it as a data drive, great sound. The only downside I can find is no playlist support. If you want your songs in other-than alphabetical order, you have to put numbers in front of the title the way you want them. Other than that, no problems with it and I used it pretty extensively.
