"Indestructible..." on by bwanac-20838752356067768479670
Pros: Now cheap, battery life, sound quality, capacity, easy of use
Cons: Large, kinda ugly
Summary: Ive owned this thing since it came out. Wasnt cheap then, but was a better deal than an Ipod. Over the years I have updated firmware and software, which has only gotten better and easier. The sound is amazing. I only run 192 kbps mp3s, but even through my home stereo system I can detect much noise, or loss of quality.
On top of this, two stores come to mind. First, when climbing into my car one day, I dropped the player out of my sweatshirt pocket. Well it fell onto the parking lot hard from about 4ft up, and only suffered a few gouges in the plastic and a battery flying out. Started right up and sounded great.
Also, one day I left the sunroof open in my car and it happened to rain pretty well. The player got quite wet, so Iet it dry for 8 hours or so. Now, I forgot to take the battery out and test it for wetness. Well I started it up and it sizzled and stuff. So I turned it off. I let the battery dry out some more, and tried later. It would run for a bit then shutdown because it was overheating. Good self control. Luckily, drying a little more and it works just as new.
All of this on the original battery. This thing is awesome!!! -
"Three years and counting" on by ferrgus
Pros: Lots of storage and great sound quality
Cons: Bulkiness compared to newer models, disk sometimes freezes or glitches out
Summary: Being an early adopter, I rushed out to get the Creative Nomad 3 back in November 2002. Last summer, the disk was damaged when my cat knocked the player off a desk, but it's given me no serious problems otherwise. I love the terrific sound quality and enormous storage capacity -- amazing for the price, even three years ago. I won't say that there haven't been some minor problems...every once in a while, the disk just shuts down and I have to take the batteries out and switch them around to restart it. (On the plus side, the lithium batteries have a very long life -- nearly 22 hours, I think.) Also, the on/off button has a bad habit of spontaneously turning on. Still, whenever I thinkabout switching to an IPod or something of that ilk, I always end up coming back to my trusty old Nomad 3. Yes, it's as clunky as an old-school CD player (an airport security guy once asked me to open it!), but I have a huge chunk of my music library on it. And now that JHymn has nicely provided software for turning ITunes M4Ps into MP3s, I can play ITunes downloads on the Nomad 3. All in all, I'm happy with the player and will not be purchasing anything else -- unless, of course, Marley knocks the Nomad 3 off my desk again.

"Best MP3 player of all the Creative products" on
Pros: I have had this player for almost 5 years, never a problem. For the last 2 1/2 years it has been playing constantly as background music non-stop. It is like a Timex watch - it just keeps on ticking.
Cons: I have experienced no cons.
Summary: This machine is the BEST mp3 player I have used since they have come out - bar none.

"3 Years and Still Ticking" on by siehead
Pros: Everything you really need from an MP3 player
Cons: not as stylish as an ipod, no photo or video
Summary: I got mine over 3 years ago and feel as though it was the best mp3 player you could get at the time. Today, the 40gb is still enough memory, the 20 or so hours of battery life is superb, and though I have dropped it countless times, it still works well. It is a true mp3 player, not too many thrills and not so stylish (people actually think it is a cd player). When I tell people that it is an mp3 player and not a cd player, they usually are impressed, its almost retro!

"Mine is two years old and still works perfectly" on by Rickrack
Pros: Great battery life
Cons: Software interface has been a little buggy at times w/ WMA
Summary: Two years and counting still going strong. Ive been looking to replace with a 60G smaller unit but so far the reviews of the others havent change my mind enough to switch. It's a little big compard to the 2005 models. The jukebox 3 works I havnt had any trouble at all. I beat the heck out it when I travel and this product works great never a let down. Built proof constrution.
