"Ideal for certain uses or collections" on by schroedk

Pros: Large capacity; replaceable battery; awesome sound

    Cons: none for me personally

Summary: First of all, you need to know how you plan to use an MP3 player. If you want to jog or work out, get a flash-based player, not a hard-drive player. If you have a small MP3 collection, get a 5GB unit. BUT, if you have a large MP3 collection (mine is approx. 6700 tracks) covering a wide variety of musical genres and you want to be able to shuffle them all or within groupings of your choice, and you want them to sound good coming through your car or home stereo, GET THIS UNIT! Don't follow the herd and pay twice as much for a "hip" iPod that holds fewer tracks!!! I now have 4 different MP3 players (one flash-based for exercise, one cheapo 20GB player for mowing the lawn, and two Zen Xtras, a 30 GB and a 60 GB, the first one in the car and the second one connected to my home stereo and holding secondary back-ups of important computer files), and I bought another Zen Xtra because of the versatility, capacity, replaceable battery, and, of course SOUND QUALITY! Although all technology is prone to failure, it is hard to be disappointed by these players.

    "View from a Boomer" on

Pros: You know, reading these reviews is like listening to the Republicans rip the Dem's. Would ya chill? Since I didn't cut my teeth on computers, and am tied to pc's, I don't know jack about the next cool file format, I just know what worked for me . . . a

Cons: For the @x#! life of me I haven't been able to get iTunes or any of the other pay-for-song sites to work with Creative players. I think it has to do with the file format they use to limit the number of copies you make. I understand there are peer-to-pee

    "superior product" on by sand7000

Pros: price is a bargain. the battery life is fantastic and the batteries are easy to remove.

Cons: case opens on slight impact.

Summary: The case does open whenever i drop the player, but if I was more careful I wouldnt be droppin it all the time. Has stood up to my abuse very well. I know many people who have Ipods and have seen that one drop is likley to damage them irreparably.

"The Support is the best!!!" on

Pros: I bought a Nomad Jukebox Zen Xtra 30GB player from Singapore and something happened to it. Creative Shipped accross a new piece for replacement to me all the way to India, even though they were not obligated to do so. They did so without asking me any que

Cons: They need to figure our what happened to my player as it just stopped working. But they replaced it anyway!

"I don't beleive the stuff I read" on

Pros: I read all about the HD MP3 players online before buying - including all the bad press on the Zen Xtra - I just could not pass up the idea of having a portable 60GB of music! One reader said it best - a lifetime of music - in the palm of my hand. I have

Cons: Okay - so the LCD is a little small and the shuttle-jog button could be a little more 'sturdy' by I'm not Arnold Schwatzenager - so I treat it like all my toys - with due care and it's fine.
