"Absolute Garbage"
Pros: Expandable Memory
Cons: Everything Else
Summary: I don't own this product. But I do have something to say about it. Since it has the same amount of storage as the iPod touch, they're comparable. This player is 100 dollars cheaper than the 16gb Touch, but that doesn't mean its worth it. The amount of features present in the Touch, from the accelerometer, to the multitouch user interface, to the wifi, to the internet browser... and the fact that the Touch is thinner than this product lead me to conclude, except for the expandable memory, this product blows. You'd be an idiot to not spend the extra 100 bucks and get yourself a 16gb ipod touch. OR even, for the SAME price, and 8gb touch that can do so much more than this product its quite disgusting.

Listen, saying that these two products are similar JUST BECAUSE OF THE MEMORY SIMILARITY is like comparing the Model A with a lamborghini or something just because the perform the same function! Don't get me wrong, the Zen is fantastic, I actually own one!
Also, i couldn't help but notice you didn't care to write a review of the ipod touch that you worship so much... -
Dude, if your gonna diss a product, how about you own one first? first off, what's the use of having internet on an mp3 player? wouldn't you rather surf the web on your blackberry or something? and so what if it doesn't have an accelerometer? the zen kicks the touch's butt. i've owned both, so i would know.

I've never, ever seen so many people respond to one person's comment. Wow, this guy should get an award or something: "Huge Ignoramus Award" for the most dedicated lemming Apple has ever mind f#ked.
-
C'mon, brother. You bash the player, and then give it 7/10? And you don't own it?
People like you are destroying the interweb. -
go away and leave us alone
-
The Touch doesn't even come CLOSE to this player. The feature set on the Zen is infinitely better and more versitile, and, personally, I'd rather have buttons and expandable memory for video than a big screen with no storage for video.
-
You are a complete idiot do you know that?
I own an iPod and I never compare a Creative player to an iPod as there is no comparison. The iPod doesn't have half the features of the Creative labs players.
Why don't you take your opinion and share with people who give a crap, jerks like yourself. You're a stupid idiot and obviously I'm not the only one making a comment that thinks so.
I don't believe you even own an iPod touch, I doubt you can operate it without help. idiots like you make reading reviews on Cnet no longer enjoyable. -
The person doesn't even own the product and he knocks it? Pay no attention. I don't own it either but I will say that the 2 other Creative players I own are excellent.
-
absolute garbage? thats retarded. first, if your looking at the creative zen, its because you dont want to buy a ipod. second, if you spend an additional 100 , you might as well get a hard drive MP3 player that easily owns any of the iPods that are out, like the new Toshiba Gigabeat MES30VW (30GB, white). and last, lol, you dont even have one, and your saying its trash, now thats a biased iPod user if i have ever seen 1
-
Wow, the creative zen also supports more formats, more media players, and creative dosnt have apples "we will replace the player, not the batterie" batterie policy.
-
I didnt read your review since your an idiot and again one of the many dumb ipod fan boys. Please review the piece of **** ipod not some other mp3 that you dont own
Everyone here who read the review you typed is now dumber. -
Don't review a product you don't have. No one cares what you think.
-
Why even bother?
-
You must not know quality. The zen is comparable to the nano. Zen wins hands down. Second its going to be cheaper than 299.99 (there not Apple they have sells). Third if you want to compare the touch to something compare it to a Archos 605 wifi. Now your itouch looks like a rip off lol. Just like the the Lg Ku990 makes your iphone look.
-
A 7 isn't absolute garbage, a 7 means the product does a fair job, has a few redeeming qualities, but could be better. If you're going to call it absolute garbage, at least get some hands on experience and then rate it a 2 or 4.
-
Hey cydrenex, seeing as you've already sold your soul to the devil(Apple)you really have no business even rating this product. Obviously all non-Apple devices will be inferior to you. Do yourself a favor and buy that iPod Touch you covet sooo much--that'll keep you away from writing anymore stupid product comments.
-
For one, although the Touch is thinner it ways twice as much. Yes the Touch may have wifi, touch interface, and browser, but isn't that what the iPhone is for? If you don't have the product you have no reason to say that the cons are "everything." Stop writing reviews you conformist pig.
-
...fanboys. On the idiot index, you certainly pegged it with this putrid one.
-
You're ignorant, stupid and you have so little active brain cells. The Touch may have a lot of features, but every one who isn't a die hard apple fanboy knows that the quality of the iPods are worse than that of Creative or even SanDisk sometimes. iPods are for people who just walk along with the masses and do not have their own opinion. For people who lay in their bed worrying in they're popular and need an iPod for their self esteem. I know you're very very sad, but no one is going to listen to you and your stupid comments.
-
You could have at LEAST waited for an opportunity to get your hands on it instead of just reviewing the product based on observation.
-
Your baseless opinion indicates that you are highly qualified for employment in the Bush administration. They are always looking for a fast mouth coupled to a slow brain.
-
Anyway, my experience with Creative is that they always have WAY better sound than iPods. Also, Zen is small and pocketable, so the Touch being thinner is a little like comparing apples to oranges. The Touch looks to be slightly physically smaller than the iPhone. You really should be comparing this to the Nano, since they are both SMALL flash players.
And try USING this before calling it garbage! You might be surprised at the sound difference! -
To comment on something you don't even own is stupid, not to mention childish, moronic, foolhardy, etc. I'll bet you don't even own an iPod Touch.
-
Listen buddy, for $100 less, you get TWICE the storage. That's a BIG deal. Now, if the products were evenly priced, then the argument might be different, but that's FAR from the case. Also, people buy mp3 players because, well, they're PORTABLE and people like to listen to music ON THE GO. So how exactly would that "miraculous" wifi feature do any good. Wifi generally requires that one is stationary, which COMPLETELY contradicts the "on the go" ideology behind mp3 players. The only place I'd use it is at home, where I could just as easily, and more effectively, use my laptop. Also, expandable memory + FM radio = MUCH more music on the go than the iPod Touch could offer you.
So if I wanted to look cool, I'd get an iPod Touch. But if I actually had a brain and wanted to get the player which would aptly fulfill my needs, in ways the touch couldn't, I'd go with Creative.
Plus, Creative players have ALWAYS had better sound quality and I only use iTunes for podcasts since the dumb program always finds a way to screw up my album art. WMP for the win! -
iDiots like you ammuse me.
i cant believe that you'd compare this to the iPOd touch. are you 12? please, go to the mental hospital and check your self in, even a semi loyal apple fan wouldn't say that this is a Touch ripoff, because, well there in two different categories my friend. -
Hmm as said before you give it 7/10 yet have never used it AND proceed to trash it? I wonder if you even have an iPod Touch! You maybe need to go and drink some kool aid - Steve's got some fresh brew I hear.
That extra $100 can buy an 8 GB SDHC card - add that to the 16 GB and you get 50% more than the crippled no-editing-calendar, no FM, h264-only, washed-out/negative black color, inferior audio quality iPod Touch. -
You have no proof that the Creative Zen is a rip off. If there is a company that is a rip off it's Apple. They use Creative's Zen patent interface, and they just added video into thier flash players which has been out for years now. But people go all crazy and excited when apple puts a feature into their products which has already been out. With expandable memory the consumer is given the privilege to expand the memory. Plus touch screen is not as reliable as tactile. Although the ipod touch has wifi, the person still needs a open wifi network to affectively use it capabilities. Plus you can't expand the memory with the touch. Claiming that it's the true video ipod 16gb is not enough memory to accommodate multiple video. Also 100 dollars extra is a lot of money to be spending on just a touch screen and wifi. Oh the Sansa Connect has wifi as well and you can listen to wifi radio, and download songs off of yahoo. This product came out a year ago. So stop making bad judgments about this product which is either on par or better than a flash apple product.
-
So you don't own it....enough said.
-
1. not everyone wants a touchscreen. Touchscreen seems cool at first, but its kind of crappy for an mp3 player. It will be difficult to operate while in your pocket, plus the screen will get dirty and smudgy all the time so you're constantly cleaning it. Ugh, no thanks.
2. Accelewhat? Sure wifi/internet is nice to have, but frankly, I don't see me using it much. I listen to my mp3 player primarily for MUSIC, and second photos/video. And you're talking as if $100 is nothing. That is a lot of money for a few extra features that for me at least, I wouldn't use that much. Oh and expandable memory by far outweighs any feature of the iTouch. You underestimate its usefulness. -
To call a product "absolute garbage" without the benefit of even experiencing the product is questionable at best. For anyone else thinking about the Zen (I've alreday pre-ordered, I'd ignore the 'over the top' comments (could be a company plant) as well as the revew at the extreme opposit end of the scale (could be a plant from the competition)!
-
The Zen is intended as small pocketable flash player with a great display and great sound. Face it. The touch is a hard drive player that just doesn't have a hard drive.
-
You know...some people want an MP3 player with a multitude of functions which is conducive to other purposes such as working out...Have you ever thought that the touch might not be so great if you can't immediately touch it? I didn't think so... Maybe you should hold your tongue before passing judgment on something you've never used, and calling people who might purchase it idiots. Just a thought...
-
So you don't own either the new Zen or the iPod Touch, yet you dog the Zen for not being of equal value to the Touch...and you still give the Zen a 7 out of 10 rating. Righty-o, sport-shoes! Glad to see you know what you're talking about! :P
