Pros display, usability, design, slot sd, microphone
Cons PC manager (creative organizer)
Summary I am new owner of the Creative Zen 8 giga and I am really enthusiastic about it. What probably is going to be Creative's flagship product shows an attractive design, features good music and video quality and several additional features.
It is just slightly bigger in size than Apple's Ipod nano, but with also a larger screen.
The display has 16:9 proportion, making actually a nice experience to watch a movie while on the move (while I am not sure I would watch a movie on the ipod nano).
Usability have improved a lot. Navigation in the menus is easy and intuitive.
The presence of a SD slot will probably make the product lifetime longer. Why buy a new device when you can just add memory to it?
I also appreciate the presence of fm radio - it is always good to listen to the radio when you are running out of new music.
The only negative point is the quality of the software boundled with the player for PC connectivity. While I appreciate the possibility of exploring the device as it was
just another drive, and the support for podcast (renamed "zencast") is good,
the interface of the Organizer is not great (when creating a new playlist, for instance, the window will not be resizable, making hard to select the songs you want). But this is not a big deal, as you can always use third party software as Winamp to manage your device.
I would also like to be able to configure the radio channels from the PC instead directly on the device.

Pros cheap, slim
Cons Virtually every feature malfunctioned
Summary I have never had an MP3 player disappoint me the way this one did. The controls worked only intermittently, the player constantly locked up (I had to send it back to Amazon with the power still on because it would not shut down) and the software would not recognize the player, even after I downloaded all the updates from Creative. Obviously it was a defective product but I won't be getting a replacement because there have been a relatively high number of reviews (both here on Cnet and on Amazon) stating similar problems. Instead I think I will give the new iriver clix a try.
Pros Small and compact, fits easily just about anywhere
Brilliant Screen, audio quality
Accepts SDHC cards
Cons Feels too lightweight
Too many hoops to jump through to get videos into a playable format
Summary Love the vibrancy of the screen; the colors are just incredible. The player does look and feel a little cheap. I miss the metal back and solid heft that the Zen Vision: M. On the upside, I do appreciate how much thinner the player it. The audio presets are great. Considering that the Zen Vision: M was 30 GB, it's nice to at least be able to add an SDHC card. One complaint that I do have is that it's been a real pain in the @ss to get playable video onto the Zen. I've gone through several different converters in order to put my movies into a playable format. The converter provided is pretty useless. I shouldn't have to jump through so many hoops. Two more things:

Pros: You can customize what menus are shown, which is nice since I'm still having problems with the videos and appreciated being able to turn the video menu off.
Cons: The finish on both the screen and the player itself (the top not the bottom) is showing a ton of fingerprints.
Pros Video playback amazing, SD card capabilities makes it a notch above the rest. Bigger screen and high resolution makes it great for the money. Extras such as FM radio, Pictures, and alarm, are good to have. battery life is long too
Cons Screen not very scratch resistant. sometimes it needs to be reset cuz it freezes.
Summary If you need a low budget Music player, this is the way to go. With a large screen, video playback, and other extras, it does more than an ipod nano, however longevity of the product may be less than apple products. A great buy, and a good way to go.
Pros good looking
easy to use
pretty good sound quality
plays videos and movies well
Cons WHITE SCREEN OF DEATH
Summary I LOVED this MP3 player for the first 8 months I owned it. I could upload songs easily, watch full length movies with great picture, browse through my favorite pictures, the list goes on and on. And then one day the screen just went white. I turned the player off and back on and it was fine. As the weeks went by the white screen reappeared more frequently and was harder to get rid of... then one day the white screen came on and never left... that was 3 months ago.. I have tried everything but every forum and website I find brings suggestions that sound great and none of them work...I get my hopes up every time I find a new suggestion
Maybe its just some of the players this happens to... maybe some will never quit.. I hope so for your sake if you bought one...
