"dissapointing Mp3 player" on by swanton27
Pros: easy use menus
Cons: fragile touchpad, chunky
Summary: I thought this would be a great buy because i have always purchased creative items and most of them have been good. But this was dissapointing.
After 3 weeks of having it, it started freezing, i would then have to keep restarting it. One day i restarted it and halfway through playing the music the volume would go right down and the touchpad would jam up and become un-usable.
I would not reccomend buying this product -
"Good for the price. I HAVE A FIX FOR THE BATTERY PROBLEM!!!!" on by traxstar7
Pros: Good sound, EQ, simple features.
Cons: Battery issues (fixed,) potential phone jack issues.
Summary: This was a fairly researched purchase in 2005. I am very satisfied with the sound quality and EQ options compared to similar Ipods. I had to send it back to Creative once but didn't lose any sleep over the experience. I recommended this player to a friend who had trouble with his headphone jack, however mine has held up so far. I have had some battery troubles which may seem to have been fixed thanks to ebay and some guy in Hong Kong for $13. If you have this player and are considering spending $200+ on a new one because of the battery issues, try this first. Go to Ebay and search for a 'Micro battery' which will yield several pages of results. Find a 950mAh battery (original was 680mAh) that will fit your player and buy it. My player used to freeze up after about three songs if I didn't have it plugged in, it's been playing all morning without the slightest hint of a problem. You may want to bring it to a full charge when you first get it and drain it before recharging it a second time. Not sure if that is completely necessary, but I doubt it will hurt anything.

"An Exellent device." on by Mp3FTW
Pros: Good sound quality and easy to use.
Cons: Installing software isn't the best.
Summary: Over all a very good device.I dont know why people gave this product such low ratings, i found it to be an exellent device and i've had it for over two years. The touch pad takes some getting used to because its a little sensitive but its fine other than that. I would recommend this product to those of you searching for a fairly cheap reliable Mp3 device.

"Great For The First Year..." on by Jeepgyrl25
Pros: Great sound, lots of extra features.
Cons: Headphone jack deteriorates, extra features not easy to use.
Summary: This .mp3 player has a lot of extra features (calendar, etc.), but they're not very user-friendly. I'd list more of the extras, but as I said, use is not intuitive and I never bothered to sit down and figure them out. And the sound is great, as long as the headphone jack is working.
I purchased this player and loved it for the first year that I owned it. After about 13 months, however, the headphone jack stopped functioning properly. Sometimes you could hear some music and no voices, other times voices and no music, and other times you could only hear certain instruments. To put it simply, it was the equivalent of listening to 5.1 surround sound with three of the speakers disconnected.
I did some research, and was able to find (quickly) a few hundred reports of other people having this same problem. To date, however, Creative Labs is disavowing all knowledge of any problem with their headphone jacks. And since it was just over a year old, I had exhausted my manufacturer's warranty, and they wouldn't help.
As stated, it was great while it lasted. But at this price, you'd be better off buying something that will last you more than a year. You may want to conduct your own research, as I've found that most people who purchased this .mp3 player recently give it rave reviews. It's those of us who have owned one for any significant amount of time who wish they'd bought another brand. -
