"Won't Transfer Music from Subscription Sites" on by calpolympc
Pros: Removable battery, rip from audio CDs, view photos
Cons: Transfers music tracks UNTIL . . .
Summary: I bought this unit because an iPod Nano gave a Power Surge on USB Port error message.
This Zen MP 8GB player transferred tracks for a while until this happened: "A problem has occurred in obtaining the device's secure clock".
Since I'm "renting" the tracks and not purchasing them, the tracks cannot be downloaded onto the device to renew their licenses.
I've tried cleaning it up, formatting, and reloaded the firmware but no success.
You can load as many tracks as you want, and delete any tracks that you don't like or just get bored of. The catch: You cannot exceed more than 6.8 GB of content (music, photos, data) without overloading the 8 GB player. -
"Unfortunately I didn't get to enjoy it" on by keylimepie0220
Pros: storage space, stylish, good sound quality
Cons: short battery life, controls are somewhat difficult
Summary: This is my first mp3 player, so I can't compare my experiences to anything I've had previously. However, I am impressed with the stylish features (the blue light and compact size) and vibrant screen colors (great for viewing photos, which you can transfer to your player and also set as background wallpaper, although the player doesn't allow you to listen to music and view photos simultaneously).
The audio quality is good and I didn't have any problems installing the software or synchronizing files. It's easy to navigate and organize. In addition, it comes with extra features such as an FM player, calendar, task organizer, and voice recording. No matter how many times I set the clock, it always got off track, which is a minor detail, but the feature should nevertheless function properly.
The battery life was somewhat disappointing and the product does not come with an AC adapter. You can adjust the sensitivity of the touchpad, but even with that it's a bit difficult to manage.
Sometimes I had a little trouble getting it to respond once it had drifted into its inactive mode while playing music.
Unfortunately it suffered a fall. It still plays music, but the screen is internally damaged and will not display anything. I'm not the original buyer (from the Creative factory) and as far as I understand, there's no trasnferrable warranty.
I'm disappointed that I didn't get to enjoy this product with all its great features. -
"The Zen has been good to me, so far...." on by angiedjones
Pros: 8G; color screen; software easy to use
Cons: scrolling device hard to get used to; short battery life; uncomfortable headphones
Summary: I got my Zen about 6 months ago and I really like it. I haven't had any of the problems mentioned in the poor reviews, but I don't use it everyday. I mostly use it to listen to music on my work computer. The sound quality is fantastic, once I got some good headphones! I didn't like the headphones that came with it, they were very uncomfortable. The software is very easy to use so far.
I hope I don't experience any of the problems mentioned in the negative reviews. If I do I'll let y'all know. -
"It's Really A Gamble, Hit or Miss" on by Johnsob8
Pros: I wish i knew, i can't even get to enjoy it
Cons: Difficult to hook up to the computer, difficult to charge
Summary: Well Merry Christmas to me... i finally got this MicroPhoto, i've been wanting this thing so bad, looking forward to getting my music on it and listening to it... HA! Jokes on me, first of all, i hook it up to my computer and it won't even charge. The computer doest recognize it. I was told to update the firmware, how can i do that when the thing won't even charge? It's been a depressing 24 hrs, and i'm ready to return it and get an IPOD.. and i hate IPODs.. but i want an MP3 player. It sucks because you have the radio option on here and other functions that i thought were so cool and unique, but i can't even get to enjoy them! And if you think it's just me.. visit creative.com and check out the discussion forums.. there are many disappointed customers.. way to go Creative..

"Love It...Buy One of These!!!" on by skittlebear
Pros: excellent sound quality, high volume control (can get very loud), small, light-weight but solid, simple to use features and upload songs, removeable battery, long battery life, lots of features
Cons: has to be hooked up to computer to charge, touch pad is very sensitive (even on the lowest sensitive scale),
Summary: I've only had my zen micro for 5 days but I love it so far!!! The sound quality is much better than I expected. It's so small it fits in the palm of my hand, yet sturdy enough to feel secure that I won't accidentally break it. It was so easy to upload music and didn't take much time at all. The feature I like the best is the fact that it has a removeable battery. I can easily change it myself or carry an extra one when going on long trips. Even though I care nothing about putting pictures on my Zen, it is kinda cool to know I have that option. It also has a calender, microphone, and radio. You can even record songs on the radio. I do wished I didn't have to plug it up to my computer when charging the battery though. I am also still trying to get used to the sensitive touchpad. Overall, I am very happy I bought this product and would do so again!!!
