"Ipod not needed, this is the one you want."
on by ConnektPros Easy to edit id3 tags on songs, great sound, lots of battery life, just a tad bigger than the ipod.
Cons Touchpad (but its really not as bad as people make it out to be)
Summary This is really a great player. I looked on this site before I bought one, reading a lot of the reviews for a bunch of different mp3 players. Since I realized JetAudio didn't really make great players, I decided Creative since my friend had a few of them and really like them. The first things I noticed were its really easy to see the screen, which is contrary to what a lot of people have said on this site. Upon further using this I realized that the size and weight really aren't that bad. I went from using a cd player, so this is obviously going to be smaller and lighter. It fits perfectly in a pocket. Also, I found out people on this site must not have motor skills, as the touch pad really isn't that bad once you get used to it. It sometimes is a bit touchy when you want to get to a specific song, but if you leave your finger on the pad and just move it up a little bit it won't give you much trouble. I bought a 40gb for 292 (thats with shipping and I had it rushed) on www.newegg.com, and thats compared to a 299 20gb ipod. The buds are a ***** to get in my ears, but it's not like I was planning on using these.

"If you have any doubts..."
on by philsoPros Cheaper than most 20 GB, Stylish, easy to use, battery life...
Cons carrying case is a little impractical, headphones not good
Summary I had read a lot of reviews before i finally purchased this item. The major thing i noticed in most of the reviews was that "the touch pad is a bit too sensitive". I found that the touchpad was great. It took about 2 minutes for me to get used to. Installation was a breeze, and the Creative Mediasource software provided is incredibly straightforward and easy to use. The player categorizes all of your music (album, artist, etc.) so it is a snap to find what you are looking for. Sound quality is amazing, but i would look into getting good headphones for this if you dont already have them. The headphones mine came with only worked in one earplug. But i expected crappy headphones and bought the Sennheiser PX200 to go with it. Another thing: I had read in a lot of posts that the backlighting was "too dim". I don't see any problem with the backlighting at all.
Final Opinion: Without question i would get this player, Creative has won me over. -
"Worked like a dream, ipod should catch up!!!"
on by 2006jjwcwPros Comes with case, good cust service, good headphones.
Cons thats a tough thing to find.
Summary this player is one of the best. I took a chance with it and bought it a while ago when it first came out. I had it for two months and dropped it, uh oh!! but i emailed Creative told them the TRUTH and they still replaced it, no charge to me whatsoever. They know i dropped it, they still replaced it. Apple doesnt do that. The player comes with its own software, on the go playlists, and seamless sync with computer. it charges off of Usb and usb 2.0 or the included power adapter. its headphones are great, maybe a little on the larger side, but great quality. And the player has customizable equilizer, you can individually change the highs, mids and lows. one of the best players on the market, not to mention price.

"Very Impressed!!!!"
on by robt177Pros Looks, size, user friendly
Cons Carring case
Summary I read hundreds of reviews before decided on which mp3 player to buy and I was definitely apprehensive. I shouldn't have been, I think this this is great. I have never owned a mp3 player so I have no real refrence other than using my buddie's ipod, and personally I like the Zen Touch much better.
I found the software very user friendly, and it allowed me to rip all my cd's in a couple of hours. It is simple to create play lists and drop the songs on to the player. The unit itself looks outstanding. Much better looking than the ipod, which I feel looks very dainty and feminine.
The touch pad is by no means as difficult to use as others have posted and I haven't had to lower the sensitivity. My only beef is with the carrying case because it could become a hindrance. You can't use any of the buttons when it's in the case and the case actually presses buttons when the unit is in use.
Overall I absolutely love this mp3 player and would definetely reccomend it to anyone looking for a solid player with tons of features. -
"For people who want to buy and play protected .wma files with a touchpad interface."
on by drmdaPros Great Battery Life! Plays protected .wma files.
Cons Touchpad difficult to use
Summary I've been using the Creative Zen Touch daily for 9 months to provide background music in an operating room. I bought it because I wanted a long battery-life, touch-sensitive, menu-driven player that would play protected .wma files. These are the downloads you can buy from WalMart.com, Napster, etc. This is the one player that met all of my needs.
Unfortunately the touchpad is a little too sensitive. It is very frustrating to try to select specific items on the menu. Even on the lowest sensitivity setting it is difficult to scroll up one menu item. The cursor usually skips 2 or 3 items. Eventually I can get to the item I wish to select.
That problem aside, this is an otherwise great player. However, IF the iPod played protected .wma files, I'd buy one in a minute.
