"It really is the best of the hard drive players. Just two minor things keep it from being perfect."
Pros: Storage, sound quality, ease of use and battery life!
Cons: Creative will not upgrade software to allow Ogg or FLAC, and there are almost no accesories for this particular Creative product.
Summary: For audiophiles and storage hounds, only the Rio Karma comes close to this thing. The Karma allows for compressesd lossless Ogg and Flac Recording. For me, reliability, battery life, and ease of use, make the Zen Touch the best choice of the two. The size is only slightly larger than the equivelent IPOD. Small price to pay for 24 hour+ battery life! IPOD's short battery life, propriotary quirks, price and moderate sound quality, make it the inferior choice for the audiophile/file hoarder. I gave my wife the 20GB model and just bought the 40GB model. It turns out, I can't fill the darn thing up! So I am recording big files for the best possible sound quality. I take it everywhere. I use an after market FM modulator that plugs into the cigarette lighter for my car (Its like a 1000 disc CD Changer), a Cassette adaptor for my wifes car and the aux plugs for stereo and work. Best of all, I have an entire 25 year old CD collection, and live shows, seperated by Genre and play lists, availible to listen or share at all times.

I just bought the 40 GB version of this slightly obsolete MP3 player for $130 USD. Upon receiving it, it had the original firmware from 2005 installed and wouldn't communicate with Vista. Updating the firmware makes it compatible with Vista's native drivers, though! No need for any Creative software. I'm very pleased with the player so far. I've connected it to the living room stereo as a permanent replacement for the CD player. Ripped all of our 450 CDs in 256 kbps MP3, and the player still has lots of room to spare. Good sound quality, adequate menu/playback options, nothing terribly fancy, but the misses can easily work it. I'd say go for it.
[Guide to firmware update (TRUST ME, YOU'LL NEED THIS TO AVOID BRICKING THE PLAYER): http://forums.creative.com/creativelabs/board/message?board.id=dap&message.id=186149]
