"good player but not good with vista Read this!" on by UFWHOA
Pros: portable, sturdy, quality sound and features
Cons: charging takes a while with the usb cable, can only playback converted uncompressed avi movie files that take up a lot of space
Summary: This player is great for playing mp3s but something you have to consider is that the software that comes with the player may not work on your computer. Windows vista jacked up the security on the computer because Microsoft doesn't trust you to determine how to control your computer. The software may no read your player even if it is plugged in properly to the computer and that is because the SYSTEM denies permission for the user to have access to the USB options. Even if you are on the administrator account on your pc, the computer still won't let you change the permission settings to allow the software to read the USB ports. This is why people complain about software not working and "seeing" their mp3 player. You should use Windows XP (service pack 1 or 2) or Windows XP 64-bit because the permission settings is adjustable, on it YOU are the administrator and not the pre-configured system.
So if you want the software to work with the player, make sure you have Windows XP (service pack 1 or 2).
You can still transfer music files just fine by dragging and dropping them into the folders from the computer to the player, that works fine. -

"The Zen line is a superior alternative to the ipod line." on by xeophaje
Pros: Inexpensive alternative. Lightweight yet feature filled.
Cons: Wall charger was a bit difficult to obtain from a vendor, but still doable. The screen is a pain to look at in bright sunlight, but then you can bypass that by finding yourself some shade.
Summary: Stingy as I am, I regret nothing in this purchase, and would and have recommended it to others. Why buy an inferior product line(ipod, which I have owned) that cost more when you can pay less and get more.

"Great player" on by lonewolf1234
Pros: Large capacity
Cons: Power switch and navigate switch have a cheap feeling to them
Summary: Nice player but feels like a toy. Could also use a protective cover like the one included with the Zen Nano. Will save your position on a mp3 clip when you turn it off. FM radio works great. Has line in to record off of c.d. or external radio. Buy a nice set of earbuds. The ones included sound o.k. but the fit is uncomfortable and style is awkward.

"Great player, cheap plastic" on by topfrog
Pros: Good sound, easy to use
Cons: Joystick broke in first 30 days
Summary: I was a Creative loyalist. But they ruined it with a product that breaks way too easily. I didn't do anything to the player, but the joystick button just fell apart. Now I have to send it back, and I know the same thing will happen with the replacement. Bummer
