"Why buy an Ipod?" on by br4hm4

Pros: What isn't great about it?

Cons: headphones are way to big.

Summary: Let me see how to begin. Ok first and foremost, I did just a little over 3 weeks of research before I broke down and bought this piece of electronic wonder. I looked at all the usual competitors iPod, Zune, iRiver, Archos, as well as less known media players to get exactly what I was looking for.

Just to hit the highlights first. The USB host feature that none of the competitors have is prefect for those of us that tote a digital camera with only 2GB of space. Just plug the cable in and boom transfer from your camera to your Zen. The file structure and user interface is extremely intuitive and to the point. The sound quality when matched with a set of good in ear buds like the creative aurvana is amazing. I have the Sandisk Sansa and the quality is night and day on the same exact tracks with the same exact headphones. I could go on and on about the goods, but just read the reviews, you will see why it got the product of the year award for 2006.

The only downside is that the headphones that came with the Zen were really over sized and lacked overall sound quality. Go out and shell out the extra money for some decent headphones, you will thank me later.

On a neutral note, there is no Mac support, but with all the windows emulators available for the Mac its easy to use the Zen in conjunction with any mac product.

"Not an I pod.... But" on by 1laughman

Pros: Amazing screen, campatibility with all major online music stores

Cons: Styling is not quite there... But it makes up for it in what it does!!!

Summary: Having used several Ipods including a 5th generation 80gb... I can say this is a great alternitive.. And it has a lot of built in features that are extra on the IPod, like a FM tuner.. I have "Yahoo Music to go" and now have access to over 2 milion songs for FREE!!!! Sure beats I tunes 99c a song. And if I really want to buy a song its only 79c.. The controlls take a little geting use to, but after a day or so you get the hang of it. If your just buying a IPot to be cool your realy missing out on an amazing player :)

"Still great a year later!" on by Short Circuit

Pros: It's tough, holds tons of compressed videos and I don't have to pollute my PC with iTunes

Cons: Creative software is still weak

Summary: This tough box travels with me everywhere. We bought the Zen Vision M and an iPod Video at about the same time a year ago. The iPod has been siting in a drawer for most of that time while the Zen has about 150,000 frequent flyer miles on it. The Zen battery still goes a good 4hrs after year it plays perfectly. Creative got this box right the first time while Apple is still coming up with "new improved" versions. With mpeg4 compression, the 30GB Zen still holds more videos and movies than the 60GB iPod.

"Just a great all round PMP, sure gives Apple a run for its money" on by djlobb

Pros: Plays- MPEG, AVI, DivX, Xvid, WMV etc. The Screen is absolutly stunning

Cons: The Universal Adapter dongle is a small annoyance

Summary: This is not exacly as "sleek/pretty" as the iPod but its definatly got a bucket load of features/compatability that the iPod just doesn't have. Firstly if your into your videos than this is just a spectacular player with its stunning 2.5" screen boasting 262K colors, but its also a great Audio Player aswell! with a 97db signal-to-noise ratio it sounds great and gets very loud, but if you really want to take advantage of its sound Quality I would recommend buying different headphones, tho the default ear buds do the job well. The Video formats are great aswell with the Vision M being able to play not only MPEG, AVI and WMV but also Xvid and divX. The new 60GB model also comes with a USB Host cable so you can connect your digital camera or card reader and upload your photos straight to the player, the photos are stored in a folder acording to the date the photos were uploaded which makes finding your photos quite easy afterwards, you can also make a photo your background and set your own color theme which is good if your not the only person in your family with the Vision M.

"best there is, charger issue solved" on by lazyguyoncouch89

    Pros: everything else

    Cons: doesnt include car/home charger

Summary: the most troubling thing about this player is it lacks a charger for car and/or home, and the one amazon sells is about 30 dollars for just the home, so i went to radioshack and asked if they had anything, aparently they did, it was an IGO tip adapter, but they were out, so i was looking at the tag and it said PSP charger, so i asked around and they said yes it should work for the creative zen too, so i went into Software Ect. and bought a pelican car and home charger for psp for $20 hooked it up and it works perfectly,
Moral of this story, look for psp chargers they are cheep and plentyful
