    "VERY dissapointed with the product"

    by MLS500 on February 2, 2006

Pros: Accesseries that other mp3 players don't offer, like FM tuner and the FM radio recorder

Cons: The screen is not as vivid as the iPod, Not a user-friendly interface, rigid buttons, very thick, player tends to scratch up, not as attractive as the iPod.

Summary: After recieving the Creative Zen Vision:M for my birthday, I realized that the system is inferior to the iPod in my ways. First of all, the system is thick, not user-friendly, doesn't look nearly as good as the iPod, and the screen is not as vivid as the iPod. Another major aspect is that it is overpriced, in the sense that you can get an iPOd, which is far superior, for less money. Why would you consider this product, especially after you know that a better, less expensive product exists?

Another thing is that the screen and the player itself scratches easily. That is precisely the reason why I returned the Creative and got myself an iPOd, which by the way, charges in a lot less time then the Creative.

Overall, I wouldn't reccomend the Creative to anyone, considering that there are better products available in the market, and since you are infact wasting your money by buying the inferior product, the Creative Zen Vision: M.

The Zen vision M is better than the ipod. It reproduce more colors than the ipod screen ever could.

You obviously either work for Apple, or are nearly deaf and nearly blind...

Sounds to me like you're just not happy because it's not an iPod that you got for your birthday?

And were did you get your Vision M? In a Cracker Jack box?

well, for one i think you're just bitter that you don't won one and already have had an iPod, although i may be wrong. Another thing is that the pricing is not that far off. After the originla release in America, prices dropped to 289 lows, which is about even with the iPod. Well and about the scratching part that's unavoidable for any product, that's why people buy something called a case if you didn't know. BY looking at the specs of the screen a 260k screen is obviosuly better than a 65k screen. i think you;ve mistaken it because ipod has the constant white background, which is the brightest color, or was you vision M on 50% brightness? because of course that's another function the iPod doesn't have.

    30gb Ipod Video 299.99
A/C USB adaptor (not incl) 30.00
FM Tuner (not built in) 50.00
    Total 379.99

30 GB Creative Zen Vision: M
with all the above included plus a voice recorder not available in the Ipod 329.99

So which one really costs less in the end.

I have one, and it's thick. Of course all my friends have iPods and i like being a rebel.

Not small like nano or even as thin as my cousins's ipod video, but i will keep my mp3 player. unless the new iPod blows this away, then you might see me on eBay.

So, I do value your opinion on this player and it's ok to have such opinions, let's look at the facts. Fact 1: Ipod is made with a plastic that scratches easy as well, so that is an issue there too. Fact 2: The Zen vision:m has a screen with better color depth (262,144 colors rather than Ipod's 65,000) so the colors will be brighter and have more contrast than the ipod's. Fact 3: The ipod costs 300 dollars, but doesn't have a wall charger (30 dollars). The Zen vision:m comes with the wall charger and costs 330 dollars, so the same price. So when you are going to fake a review just because you are a trend junkie, get the facts straight.

This guy never even held a Vision:M in his hand, let alone owned one. He undoubtedly thinks that he is "one of the original" people to have a video iPod (5G) and that makes his unit and opinion superior. Get over the iPod hype!

What type of person gets an mp3 player for this/her birthday and rates it a 1? Not only that, but they bash on it as if it were something totally inferior. I bet you don't even have one. Maybe you should try owning one and comparing it then instead of making false accusations about a very good product.

Your personal preference for "looks" has no relevance to the performance of this product. Second, if you do the math you can get a Vision:M for the bottom line price of $329.99 whereas the equivalent iPod after tax and shipping (not to mention if you ask any true Apple user, they'll tell you that AppleCare is a MUST) it'll run you a good $360+

This review really steams me up, I own a Zen Vision: M and have experienced the IPOD as well. I find your comment about scratchability most ammusing, as every IPOD ive seen, which is many, is in horrible condition, and these people use the supplied case. I agree the zen vision: m does scratch, but not nearly as bad as the IPOD. The only comment you made that I agree with is the lack of accessories for the zen vision: m. That is quite annoying, as you cannot even get the accessories that ARE available because they are out of stock. Ok i'm writing too much, let me sum the rest up:

    1. the user interface of the zen is at least as good as that of the IPOD, as they are almost the same.
    2. the screen of the IPOD is NOT more vivid than the zen, in reality, the zen screen is much better as both have the same resolution, but the zen can handle 262,144 colors, and the IPOD can only handly 65,536 colors.

There I have just proved you wrong with your unfair raiting of 1 for the Zen Vision: M, the least you could have done is give it a 5 if you dont like it.
