"Beautiful Screen, Intuitive Interface, Low Grade HD"2.0 starson by digitaldonuts
Pros: Delicious Menus and Features in unit
Cons: HD Lockup, Proprietary Cables, Propriety Software
Summary: I must first start by saying, this is the closest thing to perfection in an MP3 Player I have ever had. The screen is fantastic, the video playback is flawless. The software menu is nice.
Cons: Proprietary video cables. I went to Radio Shack thinking I could pick up some standard video cables, nope, you have to order them directly from Creative and they are very overpriced.
Cons: Software, it works ok, installs easily on your pc. But just lacks the finesse of a Windows system. Hard to explain, I felt like I was using Windows ME again.
Cons: Hard Drive LOCKUP! This is sadly what had me sending this unit back to zip zoom fly. So freaking lame. So freaking lame. Here's how to do it on your Creative Zen Vision: M. Just listen to some music and start scrolling through your music. After about 5 minutes of this, maybe more, the machine just stops responding. The buttons don't work, you can't turn it off!! There is a serious risk of screen burn-in during this bug. If I wasn't at home when this happened I would have had to wait 4 plus hours to do what the manual says....insert a paperclip in the bottom to cold boot it.
Yea, it trashed all my settings and I had to set the clock, menus etc. The mp3 files, and video files were ok, just the main settings were fubar'd.
The first time it happened, I thought, well, it was a fluke, the second and third time I knew I had a problem.
The company I bought it online from charges a 15% restock fee, equalling $47 dollar hit to my checkbook.
I say, until Creative gets higher quality hard drives, skip this and, shock, I can't believe I'm saying this....go IPOD.
