"Junk device, do not buy it, read the hole opinion." on by eli_talmor
Pros: nice shape, cool wetsuit, good name, and more than all, good internet site!
Cons: cheap material, bad earphones, luosy sound, poor interface, and not waterproof!
Summary: Here is all the truth about freestyleaudio mp3 players.
The second I took it out of it's box I realized that I was duped as the impression was that it is a cheap device, soon enough it came true.
Starting with the bad quality of plastic and buttons of the unit, the led cover is covered partially with melted black plastic, the graved marks of
volume and play/skip buttons are as well smudged and not clear. Control buttons are made of cheap rubber, badly engineered, when trying to
put the player in the wetsuit supplied, buttons are bending. but the real flaw is the earphones , which presented by freestyle audio as
"Specially engineered waterproof Sport Headphones", believe me, not special at all. taking cheap earphones (with no name, but a "made in
china" sticker... ) with no top quality of sound, and cover them with silicon glue, doesn't make them specially engineered... not to talk about
the rubber tubes that are too long (not even as well) and gets squeezed when you shove it inside the ear, a thing that blocks the sound that
by default is wick.
The mp3 interface as well is poor, volume up / down ; tunes << / >> , after shutdown, starts from the first tune and not the last heard, and that
sums it up.
I decided to return the unit to freestyle audio, after a long correspondence with them, in which they made promises, they just disappeared,
and did not respond my messages. (I should mention that I live abroad, and they used that fact knowing I won't pay them a visit).
Well, after spending more than 260 $ I thought that I should at least try it...
So I took the player for a chance in the water, it stopped working!
After a while, when I realized that no warranty is going to help me, as freestyle audio did not respect it, I tried to fix the unit, the only way to do
it was to brake it, like these one time devices... anyway, inside it was all rusted and full of corrosion.
For conclusion, I strongly recommend not to be tempted and buy this mp3, it is junk in a nice cover...

"DON'T BUY THIS!" on by sharkbait2008
Pros: It does play music and it has FM radio.
Cons: The rubber tip comes off and can get stuck in your ear. The metal tip can break and also get stuck in the ear canal. No explanation needed.
Summary: I had a 2 GB player. Used it for 2 months. Today the earbuds that come with these actually broke off in my ear. It was not just the rubber tip, it was the metal piece with the rubber tip. It had to be removed by an ER ENT doctor. They couldn't even see it, it got in so deep. I still can't hear out of that ear. And talk about pain....

"Big disappoinment" on by validator2
Pros: It worked ok for 2 days
Cons: It only worked ok for 2 days
Summary: I used the FA 1 gig Sport almost every day last summer. Although the sound wasn't muchand the controls cumbersome, I was able to listen to my playlist while sunning in the pool. It was durable and spent an occasional 5 minutes under water without problem. All in all, I was pretty satisfied.
My wife need an MP3 player also, so I purchased the FA 512 DMP. I copied an audiobook to it and it worked well for 2 days. Now every time I plug it in via the USB cable, Drive Unrecognised message results. I tried 3 computers and 2 different cables. $150 was alot to spend on 2 days of use.
The best solution I found for listening to music at the pool is DryPro's water resistant pouch. I bought it at Walmart in the discount aisle. It was marked down from $20 to $2 so I bought all they had. An Ipod fits in there and it stays dry. Sound quality excellent and are controls better. -
"No quality" on by massimonovello
Pros: none, but maybe the arm band!!!
Cons: bad sound, poor quality headphones, dificult to use, easy to break
Summary: There is no quality on this mp3. When it arrived, just looking at it´s structure and headphone you can have a bad impression. After 4 or 5 times used, it stopped to work. No sound at all in or out of the watter. Waste of money, but maybe the problem is that I used it out of the water!!!!

"Ear buds need serious work, sound quality is poor." on by donsam12
Pros: Ear buds will stay in ear while swimming
Cons: Ear buds are poorly made and come off in ear canal, if they get wet the ear bud quits working.
Summary: The Freestyle ear buds are two piece and need to be pushed deep into ear for seal, the end piece will pop off in ear canal and you need tweezers to get them out. If the ear bud gets wet, a felt like material at end will soak up water and block sound. Currently I use a new MP3 player made by a company called Swimman they make a waterproof IPod shuffle from the inside out with ear buds that work perfectly, they fit comfortably in the ear and if they get wet they still work. The ear buds are like using Bose or Shure ear buds, high quality. Very good product. I lap swim 4 times a week a mile at a time and this MP3 player is perfect. The Freestyle would last about 5 laps and quit working, sound quality of Freestyle is poor at best, sounds muffled and controls are lacking.
