"decent player" on by n2play
Pros: HUGE 20gb, large easy to navigate display, FM radio, good sound qaulity, many player settings
Cons: a little heavy at first but you get used to it.
Summary: been using this for about two weeks, haven't had any problems, I think it's a real nice player especially having 20gb which is the best part. Got it off ebay and it came with the latest firmware update 2.7.0.5. It looks like they fixed the track playing order problem with this firmware update which was the biggest gripe from users. It now has the album listed like the Ipod, After selecting an Artist, you see All Tracks (alphabetical) or you can choose from a list of albums. Selecting an Album brings up a track listing for that album in the original order, nice. I think it’s a good player for cheap price especially having 20gb. Windows recognizes the player a mass storage device once plugged In to the usb so you can add tracks directly to the player or use windows media player to add tracks, the only drawback I have is even if you add tracks directly without using windows media player, use still have to use windows media player to reconcile the new tracks for the player to recognize the new songs. Oh well.

"Buyer Beware" on by SHUGES
Pros: Large Memory
Cons: Heavy; Poor Quality; Durability
Summary: This was my first MP3 player so naturally I was excited to give it a go. That excitement quickly faded...
My Gateway had a host of problems. First of all, I was annoyed at the fact that the player doesn't store songs in order. It's mighty annoying not being able to listen to an album in sequential order. Isn't that what "shuffle" is for??
Secondly, the player comes with a case that you HAVE to remove in order to do simple things such as charge the player, turn it on/off and to transfer music.
Third, the display screen started to fade on me.
Fourth, it's a pretty hefty player compared to say an iPod.
Fifth, the headphone jack had a short. I had to always fiddle with my headphones to get proper sound. Very, very annoying...
And finally, it froze CONSTANTLY. As a metter of fact, it froze on me a week ago and has never come back to life. I never dropped it, got it wet, or abused it any other way.
So please, stay far from this Gateway product! -
"Think twice before buying" on by kfromm
Pros: makes a good paper weight
Cons: everything electronic
Summary: I bought this mp3 player to download audio files to help me review for a really big test. It worked for about six months and then just froze. The tech support at Gateway were nice but there is nothing really they can do (unless you buy the ultra mega super warranty). Now it is a paper weight.

"Better than iPod but cosmetically less" on by benazoulay
Pros: Good FM Tuner, Voice Recording, 20GB storage, eq.
Cons: a little bit boxy, lacks the sleekness of iPod
Summary: I bought the DMP X-20 and it is wonderful. The mp3 player is great, it has 20Gb of storage capacity, and many good features. Long battery life, many songs, big blue screen, radio, eq., settings, tools, voice recording, and great sound. This jukebox, when equipped with non-stock earphones really has A LOT of power. It is far superior to the iPOD, except in sleekness. It is more rugged and industrial, but lacks the cosmetica of the iPOD. But for more than $100 less ($145 at pricewatch.com), this mp3 player really puts out. I think if you want all the space you need for songs (and if you want you can store documents, pictures, whatever else - but it cannot be opened from the jukebox, only from another computer, like a external hard drive) than the DMP X-20 is more than enough. I can make voice memos, record classes, listen to music, store my documents on it, store my videos, etc. This product is great! Make sure to follow instructions on how to install the software and updates!

"Best IPOD Alternative" on
Pros: Somewhat inexpensive FM Tuner Voice Recorder Great, bright display.
Cons: None really, some people complain about having to use WMP with this jukebox. All you have to do is reconcile the player, which takes about 10 seconds at the most. All files can be transferred with Windows Explorer.
