"Incredible Player" on by ablessg
Pros: Awesome sounds, interface, and durability
Cons: No FM or recording ability
Summary: I've had my 2G 4GB Silver mini for about a week and love it. Combined with my Shure E2Cs, it far exceeds any MP3 player I have owned when it comes to sound quality. Past players include Sandisk (crap), Creative Muvo 256 and 512, iRiver, and Rio. The Creative MuVos were great, but two of them broke within a weak and seem to be very flimsy.
My only complaint is trasfering music to the Mini. I get a tone of -36 errors and have to manually manage my songs due to this. Sync fails everytime. And yes, I've read the Apple page on this and tried all the tips and tricks. That said, I'm over 2 gigs on the Mini and the quality far exceeds any trouble I've had with this. I did trade it in on a different Mini thinking maybe mine was defective, but it wasn't the case. It is my stinking XP system and I know it. If I took the time to do a re-install of XP, I'm sure it would go away.
I can't say enough about the sound quality, durabilty, and ease of use. It, plain and simple seems to be the king of portable music devices. If it were not for the transfer problems I have, I would easily give it a "10".
My comments about "no FM or recording" truly are comments for other people. It was not a factor for me when purchasing as I have no need for these features. I will be using mine primarily for travel purposes and always have FM capability throught another device and I have no real desire to record.Updated
After installing a new USB card today, I am no longer having the -36 errors. Apparently, it was a defective card and had nothing to do with XP or my iPod. -
"rubbish battery" on by jsabine
Pros: easy to use
Cons: absolutely crap battery
Summary: i bought ipod mini in july 2004 and soon had probems. battery lasted max 2 hours. then in april it completely broke, wouldn't charge at all so sent it back and got a new one. now that one has broken as well. when i charge it it will charge eternally but never be full. when i try and play anything it says empty battery. cant return again because warranty expired. otherwise, is great, i loved it but no use if it won't pay anything

"AWESOME mp3 player" on by subalky
Pros: increase battery life, easy to use, graet design and good price.
Cons: wating for color screen.
Summary: The new ipod mini is a wonderful addition to the line up.
great sound, so easy to browse thru you music, beautiful look, and syncs to itunes like a marriage made in heaven. Buy this ipod and you'll never regret it. I personally don't care for FM radio. If you must have a good FM radio buy a digital radio not those so so mp3 players like RIO. Anyway, Enjoy your ipods. -
"amazing, just what i need" on by staykill
Pros: sound quality, ease of use, battery life, the list is endless!!
Cons: the matt covering on the click wheel seems very ready to come off
Summary: i bought it about a month ago, and I and everyone else i have shown it to were amazed and impressed. however, as i said above, the matt finishing on the click wheel is coming off so tha your finger gets stuck on the way round, but if thats the only thing i can complain about, then it must be very good!!
all the people who complain about iTunes must be mad!!! i find that it is really easy to use and to update your iPod on!! maybe im just lucky!! iPods rock, so i would get 1 if you havnt already! -
"Simple, Easy, Amazing" on by ramkanda
Pros: It's beautiful to look at, easy to use, and just plain great
Cons: fm radio would have been nice
Summary: The only thing I would change about this player is that it would be nice for it to have an FM radio in it. The fact that it's missing that kinda sucks. Besides that, it's one of the best purchases I've ever made in my life. Honestly. It works great. I could operate it with my eyes closed. It can hold around 1000 songs. It looks way better in my hand than it does in pictures. I'm quite short on complaints. I noticed that all the bad reviews are from people who don't own one. That doesn't really make sense now, does it. How can you rate something you haven't used?
