"Good But Not Great"
Pros: Capacity, Sound, Playlists, Menus
Cons: Battery Life, Support, Volume Control, Off/On Control, Earbuds
Summary: I ended up with two Mini iPods. The problems I have with one are the same as with the other. Apple's earbuds are tinny, a fact which cost me another $50 when I moved over to Sony.
The first reviews I read about the iPod just marveled at the control wheel, but I find that the weak link. If you do not lock the controls, the volume can run wild and darn near deafen you. And, when pressing the bottom of the wheel to turn the mini off, it often doesn't quite catch and comes back on. Then you have dead batteries the next time you pick it up. And there's no memory which leaves you off at some point in a playlist. After recharging, you start from scratch ... which isn't easy when you always play in shuffle mode.
But my biggest complaint is that the top battery life seems to be 4.5 hours even with the volume down and the contrast low.
And don't try talking to the Apple folk. They're bigger snobs than their Mac breatheren. Maybe even worse than MS in its glory years.
If anyone ever gets to this level of simplicity with the menus and has 15 hours of play time, I'd definitely consider it over the iPod. There will be a time when a 20 gig pod will be the size of a watch - might even be a watch - and I'll be waiting.

It can hold tons of music no doubt. The playlists, menus, games are all good. The size is really nice, and the colors are awsome.
For some strange reasons, ALOT of people think that it runs out really quickly, I found that mine could last the hold weekend, top volume, and on constantly.
The earbuds were HORRIBLE. If the Apple people can come up with such a good player, good menus, good everything, how come they can't come up with a half decent pair of Earbuds!!!
and the volume control. You can kill your ears with it if you don't lock the controls. That's a BIG problem for me.
