"Amazing Mp3 and VIDEO player (w/ firmware upgrade)"
Pros: plays videos in great quality, FM tuner, voice recorder, color screen, can be used as a plain old harddrive without disrupting the mp3s stored on it, upgradeable firmware, two headphone jacks
Cons: scrolling is a bit annoying sometimes, FM tuner not best quality, slight learning curve, thick and heavy compared to others, picture viewer a bit disappointing
Summary: Spectacular product, hands down. The iRiver H320 is an amazing mp3 player with tons of capabilities. Out of the box it comes as a multi-codec player (not just mp3s but wmas and oggs) with a bright beautiful color screen, an FM tuner, a voice recorder, radio recorder, and picture viewer. You can also store any files on the 20GB of space, not just music and pictures and it also has a text file viewer. Firmware is available on the iriver website and after upgrading the unit to the korean firmware (version 1.28) the iriver fixes a few bugs and is now capable of playing video files that can very easily be encoded using a couple of programs available for free on the internet! And with the 20 GB of space you can store movies or tv shows that you have on your computer and watch then on the go. Unfortunately however the video greatly decreases battery life to about 4-5 hours rather than 10-14.
What is bad about the unit is its size. It is quite thick and heavy but that is understandable when you consider the amount of features it has. Furthermore the scrolling could have been alot faster (or maybe i just havent figured out how to make it faster) but it sometimes takes some time to get to the music file u want to listen to. Finally the picture viewer does not work simultaneously with the mp3 player so you have to either look at pics or listen to music, which kindof sucks, but i would totally pick this unit over the Apple iPod photo and certainly over the regular ipod because it is similarly priced and loaded with features that the ipod is either not capable of or would be capable of only after buying several expensive addons. Overall a VERY solid product from iRiver, but unfortunately quite hard to find nowadays.
