"Lots of features, but with some glaring flaws"
Pros: [1] Plenty of features, [2] support for USB 2.0 (fast transfers), [3] long battery life, [4] small and light
Cons: [1] The biggest flaw for me is that this device is not automatically recognized as a removable hard disk by Windows 2000 or XP. You have to install the iRiver drivers and software tools to transfer music files to the player. The software only works from

The firmware v.1.28 is for the iFP7xx series, it converts the iRiver to a flash Drive so you don't need the IMM to transfer music.
caution: Every time you flash the firmware, it will format and wipe out everything you store . please do backup first... -
A firmware upgrade is available. After the upgrade, Windows and WMP will recognize the device.
