"Stunning player DOES show album art, read text, lyrics, radio, great video, record audio etc"

by markpalmos on September 25, 2006

Pros: Quality Audio, Build, Features, regular USB2 drag'n'drop

Cons: Have to navigate to see album art, not available in UK yet

Summary: Firstly, I need to correct the reviewer. This player DOES display album art, but you have to browse to it rather than it being automatic. You can have any number of images per album. I put full text reviews, lyrics, bio's etc in the folder with the MP3 files and read up about the artist or a review on the album while listening.

The video quality is great, the screen far better than ipod in terms of colours available and clarity.

The audio is superb, really far better than ipod... (almost anything is really)

The build quality is great, the design is lovely too.

I could have bought any flash-memory based MP3 player out there, I do not have a limited budget. I could have bought a player that is available in the UK so I could have suppot if it breaks, but despite all that, the MiniPlayer was so much above anything else that there was no real contest... runner up was clix. (no text viewing killed that off for me).

It's a seriously good player, you can get em in europe and the usa, if you live in the UK or anywhere else outside of Korea and China, you will probably have to buy it like I did, online via China.

Go for it, you will be soooo happy... (till you realise THINGS dont really make you happy for long!)

    Mark.

The mini player has a lot of features, but the firmware DOES have quirks like the review says. I wanted a 4GB player, so I go the miniplayer. But the Iriver clix is a MUCH better product (I have a u10, basically the same UI). If you're in the market fora 2GB player, get a Clix.
P.S. The Clix Does read text, contrary to the other post, and the text interface is much better (Clix has smooth scrolling, and automatic bookmarking).
