"I'm hooked; I don't think they can top this"
Pros: Size, look, feel, Processor Speed, No proprietary s/w or cables, drag n drop files, audio quality, radio/voice record
Cons: Sliding menu selector is jumpy- should have had a sensitivity adjustment; needs customization of menu gui
Summary: I've had it about 1 month now- I can't beleive how many features are packed into a stack of 5 credit cards. The sound quality and customization is excellent. The fact that there is no proprietary s/w required is better. Another person complained about not having any s/w, my answer to that: THAT is the point. When plugged into your computer, it's just another drive for storage. Pics, video, sound, etc.
The fact that its being supported by Meizu with f/w upgrades is even better, though I haven't tried any yet, since it's flying just fine. I just dumped about 4 cd's of wma's and mp3'S in it and they played beautifully. I want to buy an RCA to 3.5mm cable to plug into my home and office stereos soon. Also need to buy an Alpine interface cable for my car stereo head unit.
Everyone whom I've showed it to is amazed; last night it went around a bar for about 20 minutes. The finish and fit is impeccable and made of a hybrid Lexan by GE- I did tons of research before committing to it.
It's only 4 gb, but if I need more than 3 to 4 gb of audio or jpegs or short avi clips for my commute and occasional travels, I have bigger issues.
It does more than a Nano, costs less and is way more durable. Yes, Meizu copied the from factor of the Nano, but what's new. The Japanese proved to the American auto industry: you can do better; Meizu has shown apple the same with this device.
They have an 8gb device out, but they migrated the design closer to the Nano and in doing so gave up some screen size. Oh well.
The only h/w improvement they could do on this [besides a sensitivity control for the scroll pad] would be an add-on wireless headphone b/t module.
They do make some cool accessories for it, such as a silicone skin, an external AA battery module, a travel AC power plug.
This unit is going to be hard to top if all you want is a small, slick, nearly all media player.
I may buy another just to have as a backup if this one gets lost or crushed or someother accident ends it's life- Like a cell phone and a PC, it would be hard to be w/out it.
