"Not a bad player, but god-awful customer service"
Pros: Good sound quality, easy file management, easy navigation, built-in speakers
Cons: Somewhat bulky, PLAY button stopped working in 3 months of light use
Summary: The player initially seemed as an excellent value for the money. However, 3 months after the purchase the PLAY button stopped working - no longer I could feel a "click", it was stuck in the "in" position and did not turn on the player. So, the player became totally unusable.
Here is my sad experience with MobiBlu customer service. I could not find a phone number for MobiBlu America on their web site, so writing an email was my only option. So in my message I explained what had happened and asked for advice on what could be done with the player (it was still under warranty) - should it be replaced, repaired or whatever... Got a reply the same day with a suggestion to reinstall the firmware. Wrong answer! The player has a hardware problem, re-flashing the firmware will not solve it. So, in my next message I explained the nature of the problem in more detail. Here is a reply I got (all within the same day!): "I'll have to forward your email to our Development Director, John as he is the only one that can approve work on your type player. He is out of the office, but I'll make sure he gets your email request." Now, 3 weeks later - still no reply. This John guy must be a really busy person... I sent 5 more messages, but this time no reply whatsoever. My email address must have been blacklisted.
I still think that provided the player works, it is a great value, however I regret I had not come across a story similar to mine when I was looking for information prior to my purchase. I am darn sure I would have never bought this piece of crap. Once you buy it, you are on your own. Customer service is not going to help you.
