"A total lemon" on by jasonz
Pros: It is USB ready and shows up as a removable hard drive when you plug it in a Windows XP USB port. That's the only good thing I can say about it. It might be useful as a flash drive.
Cons: Doesn't work with WMA files as advertised. Doesn't work with audible.com
Summary: This device is a total lemon. I bought it from REI.com because I wanted a waterproof device I could take backpacking. I thought it would be good to listen to audible.com audio books in my sleeping bag and it would be very light weight to carry. What a fool I was. The device does not work with audible.com files despite audible.com's claim that their files work with "just about any portable audio player" they don't have software to support this oddball mp3 player. The supposed 10 hour rechargeable battery life makes the device impractical for overnight trips (it would be much better to have AAA batteries one could carry and replace). To top it all off, the device is advertised as working with WMA files. All my music is WMA so guess what? The MP120 doesn't work with WMA files as claimed! The files show up in the menu when you upload them but they don't play. Only MP3 files play. The company's technical support is very limited and I'm still waiting for a reply to my e-mail. I feel totally ripped off. This audio player is useless to me. I might as well just throw it away; it's that bad! Oh yeah, and the earbuds suck. They must have been designed for some type of space aliens that have different ears from humans. They are like earplugs that go in the ear canal but they don't stay in. I wear ear plugs at work and I know my ears are about as average as they get, but I can't use these ear buds. I feel sick, like I've just thrown away $150. I notice REI.com doesn't even carry this device anymore. They had it on their web site for about a month because I'd been checking for outdoorsy mp3 players. Now they don't carry it so I can only guess it's because this is a total lemon and they've had a lot of returns. I wish I had saved the packaging so I could return it. jasonz@backpacker.com

"Great product for outdoor sports and immersion in water." on by B_Johnson
Pros: The only real waterproof player which I could find. Great design and good sound.
Cons: Ear buds are a little different than normal in order to work underwater but do not take long to get used to.
Summary: I bought this product for swimming but use it for all outdoor sports where I might get caught in rain or wet weather (running and skiing). It's great to have the peace-of-mind that the product won't get damaged and can work in the wet weather. It makes my workouts and outdoor sports a lot more fun.

"Attention: DO NOT PURCHASE!" on by patrusso
Pros: easy to use
Cons: expensive, small memory, poor sound, not waterproof.
Summary: When I uploaded some songs, it said that the disk was full and after unplugged it from the computer it was completely dead. I went to the shop and they gave me another one. This one worked properly for a few times and then water leaked inside and it stopped working again. I went to the shop again and then I started having a lot of problem with the customer service. They wanted to charge me half of the price of a new one for the repair (around US$80) and it was still under warranty as I have purchased it only 2 months before that. Beside that, the sound is really, really poor and the earphones, like the rest of the unit, are not waterproof at all and they don’t suit your ears. They keep falling. You cannot swim with them, unless you wear something to hold them like a swim cap. The problem with the sound is really from its earphones because I’ve tried with another ones and the sound was much better but you cannot use your own earphones on the water because the design doesn’t allow you. And believe it or not, the only difference between normal earphones and this one is that those ones have rubber covers that keep falling all the time. And even more, the reception of the radio is very poor as well.
Conclusion: Very expensive, very uncomfortable, not waterproof, very poor sound. The customer service is the worse I’ve ever experienced. A rip-off! -
"awsome for water, swimming laps can be a problem" on by p72bb47
Pros: works well, head phones and screen are decent, cheap
Cons: ear phones fall out when swimming laps, need a cap for them to stay in
Summary: works well with a swim cap, great for laps and long practices,
