"There are better options"
Pros: Easy to use, looks nice enough
Cons: Freezes up moving through songs
Summary: This player works well enough, looks nice, and is very easy to use. Unfortunately, it suffers from frequent and irritating disfunctions.
When trying to change songs or fast-forward through a song, the player freezes up. When you're lucky, it just plain freezes. When you're not lucky (which is most of the time) it freezes while simultaneously delivering a deafening, high-pitched whine right into your eardrums.
This problem seems to be linked to the speed at which you skip songs or fast-forward. The method I've had to work out is this: skip a song, wait two seconds, skip again. Skip any faster than this and it freezes about half the time. Fast-forwarding through a song, it freezes nine times out of ten. And when it freezes, there's nothing to do but open the cover and pop out the battery to reset it.
If you've got plenty of patience, or no desire to skip songs ever, this will be fine. Otherwise, you're better served getting something like a Sansa, which I've found to be incredibly reliable (and less expensive).
