"Small Workaround for the Software"
Pros: Robust and compact; Well suited for gym and travel.
Cons: Software partnership Jukebox is poor - workaround with Windows Media and minimize Jukebox usage for pure uploading
Summary: Yes, the Jukebox app is poor - keep in mind, they want you to upgrade to the retail version in order to unlock 48x speed ripping (the free version restricts it to some ludicrous 4x speed). So, use your trusty Windows Media to rip your CD's and then rely on Jukebox to upload to the mp3 player. One note, I just bought mine last week (2.28.05) and it still came with an older firmware. Download the latest firmware from the philips-nike site and also upgrade the Jukebox app to the v9 version (using the Options tab in Jukebox). Finally, you need to download a separate plugin for the portable section of Jukebox. All in all, a bit cumbersome and I can see that regular users may get turned off by all the upgrading (hence the 8 rating versus the 9). However, once you have everything in place, the player works very well. Sound is great and it just look cool.Updated
One quick, but important addendum: the new firmware (2.9) allows you to play songs downloaded from the Internet. This was a big complaint leveled at the earlier firmware version 2.5.

I am having problems with my Philips - Nike MP3 Max. The display has shown a screen saying something about firmware a few times. I was wondering where to download it at. Could you give a link? It would be such a big help. Thanks for any help you can give.
