"Lots of memory for a good price." on by Macdaddy5539

Pros: Cheap GBs of memory, good quality, FM, and voice record.

Cons: Bad button layout, lots of problems.

Summary: Overall, it's a pretty good MP3 Player. I got mine for about $170 on Amazon.com. I really like the fact that it allows you to use MP3 or WMA files. It also has FM radio and a voice recorder. The button layout is horrible however. To change the volume, you have to go through the menu and there's no hold function. When mine broke, I sent it in and they sent it back within a week. This is no iPod killer, but it does ok, especially for the price.

I must have been possesed to write such a good review about this in feb. The features are crap. In order to get good FM it either has to be a really strong station or you have to stand right outside the broadcasting studio. For the joke they call voice record You have to scream inside the pin-like hole. The bundled software, headphones, and case are horrible, plus, this mp3 does have a hold function not mentioned in the manual. You have to hold down menu for about 4 seconds, then push play to lock the keys. At first I thought I got a great deal for the price, but I searched the internet and found a 30 gig Creative Labs Zen Extra for $194 and a 20 gig Rio Kharma for $179 (Check Amazon). I'm going to try and get my money back (I actually spent $200+ on this piece of S---) and if all else fails I will try and sell it on ebay. I really don't reccomend this product unless you have an obsession with very large electronics.

"Great player for the price but it's not portable" on by ramiroalejo

Pros: Great Capacity, Line-In Recording, Good Sound, Lots of Extras

Cons: Huge Size, Battery Life, FM Signal

Summary: I bought the 30GB version of the Juke Jam for just under $100. However, when it arrived I was amazed to see how huge the mp3 player was. It does have line in recording, so you can record from a cassete player or a cd player and an fm tuner but with a bad signal. It can be used as an external hard drive. Also has voice recording, but it is not the best quality. Plus, you can change the boot-up picture... it just has to be monochrome and a very small size. Yet, the battery life only lasts about 10 hrs. the average is about 7.5 hrs. Overall its a great player but its not really portable.

"Huge memory, but just plain huge" on by aerozeppelin

    Pros: 40Gb for about $180

Cons: ENORMOUS! poor audio quality, no customer support at all, poor battery life

Summary: First off, I had the misfortune to actually buy this thing. It was only $180 with 40GB! THANK GOD I RETURNED IT BECAUSE IT DIDN'T WORK!!!!

This thing is massive. I personally didn't even think it was a MP3 player at first. THIS ISN'T PORTABLE AT ALL!

I didn't test it out, but don't buy this. Don't even think about buying this. It'd be better to use this as a external harddrive than a portable music player.

If you're looking for a budget harddrive player, I BEG OF YOU, look somewhere else. I bought the Creative Zen Xtra later. 30GB for $180. 1000x better!

"Not a good buy" on by woofiegrrl

    Pros: high capacity, large screen

Cons: zero tech support, useless software

Summary: I don't recommend this player for anyone. Yes, it has great capacity for the price, but its user-friendliness (on a scale of 1-10) is -5.

The software included with the player is utterly useless; it also comes with MusicMatch but that program is not compatible with the player and will not recognize it. The included software can only load songs from one folder at a time, and there is no way to see what has already been loaded without manually scrolling through an entire list. The "update firmware" button does nothing.

The player itself is also counter-intuitive. Volume is controlled on-screen. The stick is extremely sensitive and the player's keylock function is complicated. The only way to access individual artists or albums is by scrolling through the entire list; a keyboard function is only available for individual songs. Additionally, the player cannot handle large chunks of music - if one selects "play ALL songs on random" then it will only play songs from the first few letters of the alphabet and never play later songs.

The most egregious thing about this player, though, is that it has ZERO technical support. Polaroid leased its name to a small company called Digital Media Group. Calls and e-mails to DMG went unanswered, so I finally called Polaroid figuring that if their name was on the player, they could help me. Not only did the representative refuse to help with this player, but the number he gave me for DMG was incorrect - he called it an 800 number when it was an 877 number. It took at least five minutes for him to find something on his screen that showed it really was an 877 number. DMG, of course, was not answering. I later found out they had been sold to another company, which refused to support the MP3 products. In summary, there is literally ZERO tech support - DMG is gone, the new company won't support it, and Polaroid throws up its hands and says "go ask somebody else."

"alot of memory but way too big" on by rgoalie22

Pros: lots of mem. cheap, big screen

Cons: bad radio recepition, big, many others

Summary: i actually have the 40gb model for real cheap compared to others, there is a reason why this mp3 player is cheap. it is so big even if is a HDD mp3, it can barely fit in my pocket and i have baggy pockets. can go running with it because it bounces everywhere. the radio reception is horrible, cant get anything, so there's wasted use when they put in fm recording. another bad thing is that the volume isnt on the side of mp3 and you have to click to get to the volume. it is good though that it has a big screen. i just mostly use it as an extra hard drive for my computer since its too big for a reg mp3 player.
