"Worst mp3 player"
onSummary i bought one of these from circuit city, and right from the start, sound only played through one of the headphones, (it wasn't the headphones cause i tried it on other headphones), then i figured that was just one bad one out of the bunch, so i got another one, worked fine, until a couple dayse later, it did the same exact thing, and i didn't really use it that much during that time. so i would definetly never buy anything from rca ever again.

"A good player, better options can be found"
onSummary I owned the RD1080 for several months and found it to be a decent value compared to what was available at the time. The pros: low price, expandable memory, compact design, FM tuner. The negatives: No support from RCA and @#$% copy protection that prevents direct copying of MP3 files. Last week, I stumbled on the new Archos Ondio and have since dumped the RD1080. Check out my CNET user review of the Ondio if you are looking for an alternative to the RD1080. –GregS (former moderator of the RD1080 yahoo group).

onSummary wanted an mp3 player to go running. Size was very important. the price was great too. Yes the case is a no go. but the unit works.

onSummary Dispite RCA's lack of support, the RD1080 is one of the best players on the market if you are looking for a compact mp3 player for workouts, etc. The FM tuner and expansion capability are great aspects of this product. The cons: RCA does not give any support and the RD1080 does not play native MP3 files (they must be transcoded by musicmatch). Still, you do get some bang for your buck. By the way, RD1080 users have started a group with some great info at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/LYRA_RD1080

"Don't Buy Unless You Like Music Match"
onSummary The Music Match software would only recognize some my mp3 files. All the files were ripped from the same CD at the same time but only some of them would download.
