"Is there a need for a stand alone MP3 player anymore?"3.5 starson by BJ265
Pros: Some people my not want to have an all in one (phone + everything) device. Great product for what it is and really the only challenger to the Ipod touch since the Zune(please bring the ZUNE back)
Cons: Price...this will hurt this product from making a dent in this market when the leader is cheaper for a proven product.
Summary: I don't think people will care that for another $50 you can get a bigger screen and not have to deal with IOS. Most people will get an ipod because they won't know any better. I am also going to assume that like the ZUNE and Microsoft that Samsung will poorly promote and advertise this product, leaving it dead to rights similar to the HP tough pad and the blackberry playbook. The problem is not always the product but the marketing or lack of marketing. People for the most part don't understand android vs IOS nor do most of the average consumer really care. People know what an IPod is because of the marketing and advertising success of the apple brand. Gone are the days were people buy products for products. People by brands. Apple Ipods now sell themselves because most people don't know that an MP3player is a brand specific mp3 player not something completely different. The only company that seems to be on the branding band wagon is Verizon and the "droid" brand. Which is funny because all it is is an android device but people still gravitate to "droid's" vs android. Its going to be very hard to introduce new products into any tech market with out a quality product and good marketing(really good marketing.)
