"Q2 Is A Very Nice Player" on by tramky
Pros: - Touch navigation
- Trim little device
- Solid feature set
- Terrific sound qualityCons: - Proprietary USB docking port, a minor complaint
-Lack of accessoriesSummary: I can't agree with the Editors on this one thing--the case does NOT have a cheap look & feel. In fact, I think the look & feel of the Q2 are quite nice and solid. It is SO thin it is almost too thin, but I'm not complaining.
The navigation touchpad is backlit with a nice blue light and, iwth some experience with the placement of the touch-sensitive 'buttons', you can run this thing in the dark quite nicely..
I've connected my Q2 to a very good stereo system and it delivers quite good audio quality, much better than a couple of other MP3 players I have had.
While there is not a dedicated volume button or wheel, adjusting volume is simply a matter of touching the up/down navigation buttons when an item is playing.
There is no tactile feedback when touchng the navigation buttons, but the sensitivity is quite good and once you get the feel of it there is no problem. As with nearly all touch-sensitive players, using the 'Hold' switch is essential to keep from losing your place and activating functions you didn't intend. Without putting on 'hold', just slipping the Q2 in your pocket can result in a series of function switches.
The Q2 has a proprietary media management system accessible through a PC, but I prefer using Windows Media Player sync functions, which can hook right into the Q2 as well. For me, the less proprietary stuff the better.
It displays photos & video very nicely. The specs say it doesn't handle .MOV video, but I haven't tried it for myself.
I have the 8GB model, but the features are the same as the 16 gig model. By the way, I found my 8GB Q2 at Target for $99.95, but they seem to be tough to find. -
"Awesome MP3!" on by bobzed
Pros: Perfect amount of memory, excellent sound quality, very good video quality, easy to learn, portable, long battery life.
Cons: ummm the foam falls off of the earbuds...??
Summary: I had to work for a long time to earn the money for this and I am very satisfied with it. I would definitely buy it again and it is a great product.

"Excellent mp3 player for great price" on by aztec0104
Pros: Excellent sound quality that uses DNSe 3.0
Very good equalizer
Lots of sound features
Good bass that booms
Very good picture and video quality
Very good sound quality it actually makes low sound songs sound louder
Recorder
Customizable menu
RadioCons: Touch pad is too sensitive
When you raise the volume only once it sounds like you are raising it two times
Pictures are almost always sideways and you have to change it
Have to scroll through sounds manuallySummary: This mp3 player has everything you want if you are a bass lover(like me) if you like very good EQ's. It also has very good sound, video, and picture quality. Excellent radio reception.Customizable menu and you can use a picture for the background.
Overall this is a EXCELLENT mp3 player to have it is also very slim. This is also an mp3 player that you get more than you pay for its only 99.95 at Target and i didnt see it anywhere else. I would higly recommend this instead of an ipod. -
"It's a great sounding player, but,...................." on by trkwkr179
Pros: Great sound quality, excellent EQ and sound enhancements, good screen quality, nicely sized, good battery life.
Cons: Horrible touch controls, no dedicated volume controls, buggy & over sensitive touch pad, battery life is half of what's claimed, horrible music navigation.
Summary: Touch controls are overly sensitive, and the volume can jump if your hand passes near the player. It's very easy to accidentally navigate away from the screen your browsing in, due to imprecise touch sensitivity.
Searching through the music library is also a nightmare, as you need to scroll through the entire catalog song by song. This really can take some time, especially if you have 2000 or better tracks (like I do) on the player. Navigation like on a Sony or Creative player, where it's possible to select a letter for a song or album, then see what falls under it really is a necessity on a player like this. It;'s a long and tedious project just to find 1 track, and it really kill the ease of use this player SHOULD provide.
The battery life is nowhere near the claimed 50hrs, but that's probably due to my usage habits. I have the player set to dim the screen @15 seconds, but I also have the eq and sound enhancements engaged. This cuts the audio playtime down to around 20-25hrs. This is acceptable, as sound enhancements on almost any player drain the battery considerably faster than the maker specifies.
Now, on to the sound quality. I will say that it's just fantastic. It's way better than my iPod Touch 2G, and sounds better than my Zune 120 as well. The DNSe/EQ settings are just fantastic, and only my Cowon S9 has the edge . The bass gets low and dirty, and the mids and highs shine through. Samsung really did a fine job in this area, and it shows!!!
Still, I wouldn't recommend this player to anyone, as the navigation is a real deal breaker for many, and I've purchased it on special order - for me it's a keeper :P
The final score: The Samsung Q2 gets 5 stars for SQ, but the other issues take away 2 stars. So 3 stars it is, and I hope a firmware update takes care of the library navigation issue, as I'll definitely adjust my review accordingly!!! -
"Pass on it" on by powerbomb1411
Pros: Wish I could think of some.
Cons: Figuring out how to use it.
Summary: I just got this in the mail today. My last MP3 player was just getting too old (A few years at the very least) and wasn't working well.
Now the feature I used most on my old MP3 player was the playlist and organizing the songs how I wanted to on the playlist.
I'm still trying to figure out how the playlist works on this. I just can't figure it out and I'm not having any luck online looking it up and the manual is about as useful as a hemroid.
Not a fan of the touch pad either.
At this point, I wish I wouldn't have bought it. That might change if I ever figure out the playlist.
