Pros: Decent UI, Excellent Features, Solid Form Factor

Cons: Slow Startup time and Synch, Disappointing Screen, Some Bugs

Summary: I have had my player for 2-3 days; overall happy with it, but some annoyances; for example:
- Each time you turn it on it takes several seconds to 'boot'
- The quality of the color pictures is pretty poor
- It took me about 2 hours to synch about 600 songs over USB 2.0. This is my first player; so maybe that is normal but I expected faster. I wish there was a firewire connector.
- In the playlist, the genre of songs that are encoded as MP3 appear as numbers like '3' instead of the correct name like 'rap' (I have a mix of WMA and MP3 songs).
- You cannot synch to the same device from different Windows accounts on the same computer.
- The battery life could be better.

However, overall it does what I bought it for, which is to play my music on the go and displays color pictures. If anyone has advice about the synch speed I would appreciate it.

I have now had the product for a few months. I am even more disappointed with it. The biggest problem is the power management. Once you charge it and unplug it from the PC, it turns itself ON after a "boot" of 10-15 seconds. I have inadvertantly ended up with a fully depleted battery a few times as a result. Also, the battery just went dead when I was running. Now the thing is hosed; I need to reload the firmware apparently and re-synch everything. I would definitely recommend against this device unless Samsung releases a major upgrade for the firmware.
Updated
Samsung has finally released a firmware upgrade for this player, and it fixes most of the major problems I highlighted above. The power management now works as you would expect. Also, because this release fully supports Windows Media Player, it's easy to set up automatic synching of your podcasts and playlists.

The booting is faster, the synching is faster, and the MP3 genre bug is fixed.

This player works pretty darn well now. I would still like to see a dedicated hardware volume control, and the ability to rate songs on the device, but aside from that I have no complaints.

The built-in voice recorder is an added bonus which I have started to take advantage of.

You can set it up, for example, so that any song you rate as 4 stars or higher is automatically synched when you connect the player to your PC.

that was the thing i noticed when i had it. it took a while. not sure how long on others it typically takes. i also have a flash player from rio. that seems faster.

but overall i love it. good at the gym on the elliptical machine and bike. only real complaint is the plastic cover for the usb port. very small and not attached to the player. i already lost mine. so be careful! otherwise a great player.
