"A great device with a few minor flaws and annoyances"
Pros: Sexy design, easy to use interface, drag & drop file transfer, FM Radio/Tuner, great sound quality
Cons: Awkward location of headphone jack, no "saved" presets for FM Radio, sticky volume control
Summary: I just bought the Samsung YP-U2 at Best Buy (the workers didn't even know they carried the thing until I had them look for it) and I can tell you it's a sexy little MP3 player that comes equipped with a lot of great features for its price. With only a 512 MB version currently available (the 1GB and 2GB model is launching this summer), this may not be enough storage space for most consumers, but I find that it fits my needs just fine. If you are satisfied with carrying about 10 albums (or roughly 100 songs) with you at a time, then the storage size won't deter you.
Navigation is simple; the menu is intuitive and straightforward. However, I'm not sure if this is just my model, but my volume reduction button (-) is a little sticky. It doesn't respond as well as the other buttons and I have to play with it a little. I may return it for a replacement if that problem persists.
Otherwise, I am pleased with this unit's other functions. I have been eyeing the IPOD Nano for some time and have come close to buying one on several occassions, but the main deterrent for me was the absence of an FM Tuner, as I still like to listen to the radio from time to time (this may come as a shock to many other readers).
The FM Tuner has an "auto preset" mode where it will search for and grab all available radio stations in your area (20 for me, living in Irvine, CA). However, there is no way to "save" your favorite stations as presets without scrolling through all 20 of them. This is a little annoying.
I REALLY like the drag-and-drop file transfer for getting songs onto the device. It's a three step process: 1) Launch Windows Media Player 2) Drag your music into the program 3) Click "Start Sync" button to copy files to your device. It's THAT simple. No annoying iTunes required (another reason I never bought anything IPOD).
And with the unit recharging simply by plugging into the USB drive on your computer, it's very easy to keep it juiced. It's lightweight, compact, fits snug in your
pocket, and easy to use...but what's up with the headphone jack located on the side of the unit and not the top or bottom?
Overall, I give this product an 8.0.

You indeed can save presets for the FM radio (up to 20!)...the instructions on how to do so are included on the CD that comes with the YP-U2.
