"GREAT FOR THE PRICE" on by im_tux
Pros: I got it for 50 bucks. battery is fair and seems sturdy the screen is hard and it works well with a screen protector. Music is amazing and the micro sd slot is a big plus (unlimited amount of music)
Cons: It uses a rechargable battery wich is hard to remove and cant just be replaced when charge dies. the battery hatch is loose and i had to tape it to make sure it didnt fall off.
Summary: I bought this for 50 bucks on sale and i really love it with the headphones i use (philips in ear) the sound is loud and i can listen to it at lowest volume and even tune my mom out on low. The sound is great (not sure why people complain about it). It sounds better than my freinds ipod with the same headphones, was 100 bucks cheaper (for same memory)and has a longer battery life. So far i have gotten a long battery life using these headphones and leaving it on low brightness and having the backlight go off after 5 sec's. I reccomend this to any person who isnt willing to waste $150 for a ipod from apple. (also the micro sd cards are like 15 bucks for a 1gb and 20 for a 2gb)
Updated
have had for a while now and it still is workin for the moment. sometimes it dies but i just pop out the battery and put it back in and it works fine. the only thing I dont like is the screen turns off atfer the back light goes off -
"Very cheap, but also very good~!!" on by iruka*
Pros: Radio, voice recording, LCD screen
Cons: Too small to view photos
Summary: I don't mind the photos at all. Not like I look at them much or anything. But it's really good for your music (basically what's it's supposed to be for...-_-). It looks really cute and it doesn't have a complicated program you have to work with. I got it for about $100, but it does pretty good for $100 and it's a 2GB, too. I like the design for it. Comfortable when I'm recording things. And you can easily replace the battery if you want. And like most Sandisk players, there's the slot for SD cards. Very useful for extra things.

"Great MP3 Player!" on by brandon9715
Pros: Voice Recording, FM Recording, Great User Interface
Cons: Subpar Screen
Summary: Definitely beats Ipod!
The screen might not be perfect, but why would you need a extremely good (and expensive screen) for listening to music?
Definitely a good buy! -
"WORKS FOR ME! It's not a PDA. Neat little package." on by ZolaROM
Pros: Lots of storage. Has an Equalizer, FM radio, Voice recorder packed in a very easy to handle device. Sync
Cons: Should have cut the picture display and worked on the GUI
Summary: This is a small package that performs well as an MP3 player.
The only problem I see is the developers couldn't decide what they wanted it to be and wound up underdeveloping it's true function as a very capable mp3 processor.
Really, my eyes are not that good, no matter how close you pack the pixzels on a 1 inch x 2 inch LCD. I just don't enjoy watching any type of video at that scale, get real!
Now as an icon and text display it does the job.
Sansa could spend more time on the users manual explaining the user interface, maybe throw in some graphics and arrows in the doc explaning how to get around in the menus.
I had to spend a little time exercising the toggle switch learning where everything was. Once I got the hang of it, in a short time, I found it easy to navigate.
The main navigation button was slightly small. Occacionally, I would find myself in the wrong menu. There is room enough on the front to have a bigger thumb switch, So, Sansa engineers get to it!
I read the comments about lack luster audio. I didn't experience that problem. There is an equalizer that has presets for Standard rock, pop, classical, etc. A manual setting for the equalizer is at the bottom of the menu. This made the difference and improved the sound for me. Also, your "ripper" mp3 software (i.e. MS-WMP, Rhapsody, iTunes and most others have settings for the bit sampling (bps-bits per second)usually in Kbps which can improve the output quality. The higher the sampling the bigger the mp3 file will be. I use 192Kbps. This works good for my ears. If your want concert hall quality out of a device you pay less than $80 dollars for, at the moment, I think your going to be disappointed.
A feature I found lacking, which seems to me to be this mp3 players biggest fault is the menu functioning is disturbingly primative. I've written menus in C++ and these menus appear to be written by a rookie programmer that didn't hear the words... "BETA testing".
Also, the software "SANSA MEDIA CONVERTER" is not well document. It resizes your picture files dragged to it's desktop. It lacks any direction. Its' only use is to convert your picture files into yet another format that only this display understands. I would get rid of this picture funtion and use the resources for developing a better GUI.
Overall it's an MP3 player. It performs the function well for it's class. I'm satisfied with my purchase.
The redeeming factor is that you can download firware upgrades. So, maybe this will improve.
This has a "Micro-SD" card slot for more memory. So you can store bundles of stuff on this little gem.
By the way. I like the snappy red color of it's enclosure. -
"Good features, disappointing sound" on by cad_
Pros: Ease of use, features, FM tuner, capacity vs. price
Cons: average to below average sound
Summary: Cost $80 at Best Buy. Without opening the manual, I found it very easy to access all the features and settings quickly. Adding/sorting/uploading songs was simple, though file transfer is a little slow. Though screen resolution is not great, it does the job for showing text.
I want to like it, but can't get past the mediocre, flat sound. Bass sounds distorted. Adjusting the equalizer and swapping different headphones did not improve the sound much. Passable as a workout player, but not much more.
