"Good Player, Overpriced"
Pros: The sound quality is outstanding.
Easily picked up by a first time user.
Durability is above average
Folder Separation of music is a great feature allows you to select what you want to hear based on naming or which folder the audio is in.Cons: Overpriced, $40 for 2 gigs is overpriced.
Summary: This is a good product even if the reviewer doesn't know what the hell she is talking about. Did we here he refer to it as a "Shuffle at 2:30 as in "Ipod Shuffle" Might be time for the editor to have a review of this lasses reviews herself. The player is a good quality product but as for all class 1 electronic devices, they final performance standard is, does the product work. They only ship if they do, however there is an outstanding problem with the previous model's firmware which sometimes fails to allow FM radio playback, and there is no mention of whether or not this was corrected in this model. Might be wise to investigate that further if that feature is important to you.
Earplugs wear out too soon, requiring you to buy another set which run about half the cost of a new player.
Still possible to pause the FM radio? Hmm whats that all about?
Overall the price is the biggest sticking point for me, 2GB isn't substantially more than 1GB is in terms of hours of audio and it certainly isn't worth it for the microSD expansion. This is a superfluous feature which makes almost no sense to have on this type of product because it doesn't provide functionality while reducing battery lifetime even if only a little bit.
In 2007 the 1GB model sold for about $40. Those players are very common and today sell for about $15-20. Going into the 2009 Holiday season they're asking the same price for a 2GB model which doesn't increase battery life, and provides a needless expansion slot. Though you probably won't be disapointed with the new model I'd stick with the 1GB model and just buy yourself an extra pair of ear plugs.
Updated on Sep 1, 2009The original Clip is #97 on the top 100 electronics products on Amazon.com with 340 of 400 customers rating it 5 or 4 stars. Re-reading the CNET written review of this product I cannot locate the "obvious improvement" they seem to find between the original model and this model.
Updated on Sep 1, 2009One last thing, according to this site, you can get the original 2GB Clip you know the Clip without the +, and the extra unnecessary battery draining feature, for about half the price as the one with the +. Folks looking for a good player with 2GB or space would be wise to opt for that one. Cheers.

You were TRYING to make a joke, right?!?
"Overall the price is the biggest sticking point for me, 2GB isn't substantially more than 1GB is in terms of hours of audio"------yeah, it's only DOUBLE. Hey, if this is your criteria for mp3 players, I've got a few 256meg oldies laying around that I'll sell you---$30 each, after all, 256meg isn't really THAT much smaller that 1GB!!!!
"it certainly isn't worth it for the microSD expansion."------Of course not. The expansion only allows you to have an UNLIMITED library of music, podcasts, lectures and books with just a card change, or a 20GB player for <$100. Definitely "superfluous"----Right!!!!
From now on, when you try to write comedy, at least put a smiley face behind the parts you think are funny so we know you aren't serious. -
Hmm, you are cheap!!!! LOL, wow, this is too expensive,....funny!!!!

Despite the commenter's concern, there are better Clip+ pricing options: Best Buy has the 4gb Clip+ at $50, $7 LOWER than the similarly-sized original Clip still sold there. A fair/good price.
Also, SanDisk listened to its customers, adding many features/improvements: folder view/navigation; near gapless play (lessening gaps between songs); faster display scroll speed; track info.; next song info.; sound normlization capability; etc. Despite the commenter's personal preference, the microSD slot, also requested by consumers, is a great "obvious improvement" and option--it allows you to easily swap large amounts of music in and out of your player without deleting anything (you could have 1 microSD card with rock music, another with classical, etc.), and can increase your player's capacity greatly, getting to a 20gb player for under $100 with a 16gb microSD card (and card prices continue to go down).
In the end, a good deal and player, the best in this form factor, bar none. -
First of all you are very cheap if you think $39 is overpriced. $39 for 2GB is a terrific deal. This product is a great alternative against the iPod Shuffles. And the earphones? Are you kidding me? Besides the Zunes, what bundled earphones doesn't suck? They all suck, so no matter what mp3 player you end up buying, you should always buy 3rd party earphones.
This user review is a joke, and I really hope nobody takes it too seriously, because it's pretty obvious that this guy isd bias.
Another thing, don't hate on the cnet reviewers. They are people too, and everybody makes mistakes. And remember, when you point your finger at somebody, there are three more pointing back at you.
