"cheap, affordable - implies - lousy, have to put up with what you pay for." on by arvi_23
Pros: 1 GB Mem Card upgradable to 2 GB- neat
Cons: Too many to list. WOW Bass is a nice concept - well only if it worked as it says it would.
Summary: Overall a player to avoid unless you are desperately looking for an MP3 player with minor stumbling blocks that you would not mind having to put up with.
The earbuds have the most flakiest of designs.
Poor design of volume control , feels like an 80's hand held radio.
The plastic/polythene case to hold the player must have a more shaped design to make use of the strap on holder utility. The strap should be lengthwise rather then breadthwise, this would avoid the player from popping out without balance when strapped on.
overall -
design - 30%
quality of performance - 65%
memory extensibility - 99%
price - 75% -
"Worst MP3 player I have used" on by rjwheat
Pros: SD card slot
Cons: Design not well thought out
Summary: I have had the Sandisk 126MB and 512MB players. They were both great. I was looking for a 1G player and tried this Sansa. I used it for a week and took it back to Circuit City. The two main things that I couldn't live with was the volume thumb wheel. It was like trying to adjust a thumb wheel that was not meant to be adjusted. Secondly the sound was really not good even with all the sound enhancements. The ear buds amplified the sound of the ear bud cord rubbing against your face as you turned your head. Often disrupting the music.

"Seems Pimpy... But," on by DCizzle
Pros: Removable SD
Cons: Possible Quality??
Summary: I don't own this item, but have been waiting for a removable SD flash player. Flash is the way to go in my opinion... Skip free for all kinds of sports, especially extreme sports. I'm an iRiver fan... Their quality in sound is just amaZing. Lexar has a player that was do a few months back (LDP-800) with removable SD and packing high quality internals with the compact iRiver size... BUT, it's still not out?? I'm tempted to make the purchase, but I'd be kicking myself in the A$$ if the Lexar LDP-800 all the sudden pops up in the market. I'll just kick back and wait for more reviews on this Sandisk... The previous Sandisk was rated with static and under 90db rating. Awful. This may just be a pimpy player, but the Lexar would rock it's world based of the CES ratings www.lexar.com/ces

"CNET is right on the money" on by wlau
Pros: none , i can't think of any
Cons: average aspect
Summary: Some users are saying CNET is wrong, but I think CNET is right on the money. Since they tested many players, they KNOW how good MP3 can be; calling this player mediocre is very very kind.
This player does not shine in anywhere, but has some flaws in every aspect!
1) poor sound quality, a lot of distortions, overly emphasize on MP3 artifacts
2) lousy uncomfortable earbuds
3) below-average battery life (can't achieve rated hours)
4) non-logically menus, exist to previous doesn't work well, and it doesn't remember previous menu positions
5) playlist/play order is not comprehensive, it always start from the first in the artist list, placing files in different album/directory makes no difference
6) blue backlight flickers
7) very unresponsive UI, track changes and menu changes can take upwards of 1500ms to occur
8) very unresponsive buttons, theybuttons are part of cut-away plastic casing, you have to depress very hard to create a key-hit contact
9) loose battery door
10) unstable OS, certain sequence of events will cause the OS to crash... this is a produceable problem
11)
10) overly tight vinyl case, it takes a lot of work to remove on and put on the case to change battery
11) turning on the WOW/Trubass sound enhancement will oversaturate the earbuds and cause enormous amount of distortions.
In my book, a player shines in a lot of areas but over look a few things is totally acceptable. However, this is NOT the case for this player. There are flaws in very aspect of this player. I cannot think of one area that I don't have something to complain about. Except the larger 1gb storage, this thing is no matter than the first Rio that came out years ago.
