"Problems with sound quality" on by ileftiTunes

Pros: Easy to use, has a lot of potential

Cons: Static, hissing, crackle, and pop

Summary: After doing weeks of research and reading tons of reviews, I was really excited to get the new 4GB Rhapsody.

All of the music that I have tried to put on the player (my CDs, Rhapsody to go songs, etc...) has this horrible static noise, like listening to an out-of-tune radio station. Tried different headphones, reinstalling the software, & online help.

Songs play crystal clear on my laptop using Rhapsody, even with the headphones connected to my laptop (IBM, XP, IE7).

Don't know if the player I have is defective or not. It already froze up on me the first day I tried to use it and I had to reboot by holding down the on/off button for 15 seconds.

I will try taking it back to Best Buy and see what happens.

    Updated
I had a defective player, the connection (prongs)between the inside of the headphone jack and the computer were loose, causing the static and distortion. New player is great, I am very happy. Also, the customer support was really helpful, and friendly. I am more than satisfied, its everything that I wanted in an MP3 player. I rate it as a 10, easy to use, navigate, has a ton of features compared to the Nano. I also got a great price on it, 129.99 for the Black Friday sale at Best Buy.

"I don't get it." on by onlyauser

    Pros: Great feature loaded player

Cons: If you don't use Rhapsody the e200r is worse than the original e200 series

Summary: Cnet has missed the mark here. The e200r is not any better the the e200 series. Infact it a a bad choice for many useres.

Many uses are complaining after buying an e200r series Rhapsody player because they do not use Rhapsody and never will. Some are even trying to switch to the original e200 series players.

Bottom line is if you do not use Rhapsody it is a frustration and a waste of the extra money the e200r series costs.

Go for the plain e200. You will be much happier unless you need or want Rhapsody. The plain e200 can still use the Rhapsody service anyway.

The original e200 equals freedom from subscription service lock-in. If you want to be locked into an online store go for the best: iTunes.

"Stylish but problematic" on by globalnole

Pros: stylish, click-wheel, decent storage capacity, battery life.

Cons: freezes, lacks of available accessories, low humming noise, poor software

Summary: The Sansa e260 is a fairly good mp3 player that needs a bit more time on the designing block. The Sansa has pretty good music capacity (I was at 760 songs at last sync mp3 + wma) with fairly good quality. However this little mp3 player has a lot more things to over come.

PROS- The click wheel, much like the iPod the Sansa has a convenient click-wheel which makes it easier to scroll to your favorite song or artist and scroll through the menu quickly. The battery life is also pretty good, averaging just about the 20 hours that SanDisk says it has. It's very stylish which helps.

Cons- Sadly the Cons are in high numbers. My e260 freezes and locks up all the time, requiring annoying restarts which often take a minute or more. There is also no music-manager cd equipped with the Sansa forcing you to use Media Player or another software which can be problematic. No AC charger (included at least)which means you have to have your computer or laptop to use it. Accessories are in short supply but I noticed recently on SanDisk's website more available options but not like those of the iPod. In the background I also often hear a low humming noise that I can't seem to get rid of.

Sadly I had to send my e260 in for an exchange (one year warranty + easy tech support) as it has completly died on me-faulty hardware probably. Everytime I try to turn it on, it says the batter is too low. When I plug it in to the computer, it only freezes at the welcome screen.

I give the e260 a score of 5.5-6.0. Hopefully my exchanged player will have fixed all of the bugs.

"Rhapsody + e260R = Freakin sweet" on by watsasachmo

    Pros: EVERYTHING

    Cons: Scroll Wheel

Summary: If you have Rhapsody then buy this MP3 player.

So where to begin. When I took it out of the box the battery was fully charge and it came loaded with tons of great songs. Sweet I get to play with it right way... I plugged it into my computer and it detected and installed the drivers automatically. I didn't have to install any of the software that came with the device. So many people complaning about having to install software....learn to use a computer... When I turned on rhapsody it deteceted the device and automatically updated the firmware. I didn't have to press or do anything... That was pretty sweet.

I guess this is a negative but you can only delete files from the device through rhapsody. you can't delete them from the device. doesn't bother me but im sure some people wont like that. In Rhapsody it will show you all the songs, playlists and channels that are on the device. you can delete them with a couple of clicks. its very easy.

To load music on to it all you do is drag and drop. you can drag your play lists, auto play lists, whole artists, or albums. Using the USB 2.0 ports and adjusting for the download time from rhapsody each song takes about 10-20 seconds to upload to the device. if the songs are stored on your computer then it takes only a couple of seconds. I tried it on USB1.1 and OMg that was a nightmare...please dont attempt

If you have songs that are in multiple playlists and you copy both playlists to the device rhapsody will only copy the song once and just link it to both play lists on the device. You dont have to worry about it ever copying the same song twice and wasting space.

It comes with a USB cable that doubles as a charger. Many people have complaind about this but thats only becuase they dont realize that the USB ports on all computer provide power even when the computer is turned off. THATS RIGHT!!!. you can charge this device by pluggin it in to your computer when its turned off. Charging takes about 3 hours if you run the battery totaly dead. I used this thing all day for the better part of 15 hours and it still showed half battery power left. im sure it was less than that but OMG the battery life is amazing.

The LCD is 1.8" and extreamly clear, bright, (can be dimmed in the settings) easy to read and the graphics are crisp and the motion of the menus is fluid. the best way to put it is that the way it responds to your touch just feels natural. The OS repsonds quickly with no lag between pressing buttons and the action occuring. There is no lag between songs changing.

The only 2 things about this that are negative are the feel of the scroll wheel and the 10-15 second start up time when you power it on. The scroll wheel feels cheap but its proven so far to never get caught up and it has functioned perfectly with out fail. The start up time feels a little slow but how often do you have to turn it on.

I have pioneer deck in my car that I bought and installed the AUX plug for so I could connect this to my car sterio. It worked perfectly.

The sound quality from this device has been absolutely perfect. even when running it through my car sterio. It has a custom EQ that you can set once the firmware has been updated. If for some reason you are not satified with the sound Rhapsody gives you the option of selecting what bit rate you want the songs to be transfered in. that default is 192K but you can go as high as 384K it will just eat up more room on the device. the alternate to this is you can lower the quality should desire and be able to load about 1300 songs at 128k but I dont recommend that.

This thing looks cool, feels good in my hand, feels very sturdy. You just have to get over the scroll wheel and the small buttons.

"Great Mp3 player!" on by manglind

Pros: Easy to use and load music on, replaceable battery, extra slot for memory

Cons: sometimes can be difficult to push the buttons because they are small

Summary: I love this player! I was really surprised how easy it was to load music onto it.... I had an easier time loading music onto this than my husband did loading music onto his zune! I really like that you can add more memory and replace the battery since a lot of other mp3 players don't offer those options (unless you ship it off and pay for the battery to be replaced). Also, I was amazed at the clarity of the video on the screen. At first I was apprehensive about how easy it would be to watch a movie, but it's actually pretty awesome! I would definitely reccommend this to anyone who is looking for a sturdy flash mp3 player with lots of extras!
