"Rhapsody + e260R = Freakin sweet"
Pros: EVERYTHING
Cons: Scroll Wheel
Summary: If you have Rhapsody then buy this MP3 player.
So where to begin. When I took it out of the box the battery was fully charge and it came loaded with tons of great songs. Sweet I get to play with it right way... I plugged it into my computer and it detected and installed the drivers automatically. I didn't have to install any of the software that came with the device. So many people complaning about having to install software....learn to use a computer... When I turned on rhapsody it deteceted the device and automatically updated the firmware. I didn't have to press or do anything... That was pretty sweet.
I guess this is a negative but you can only delete files from the device through rhapsody. you can't delete them from the device. doesn't bother me but im sure some people wont like that. In Rhapsody it will show you all the songs, playlists and channels that are on the device. you can delete them with a couple of clicks. its very easy.
To load music on to it all you do is drag and drop. you can drag your play lists, auto play lists, whole artists, or albums. Using the USB 2.0 ports and adjusting for the download time from rhapsody each song takes about 10-20 seconds to upload to the device. if the songs are stored on your computer then it takes only a couple of seconds. I tried it on USB1.1 and OMg that was a nightmare...please dont attempt
If you have songs that are in multiple playlists and you copy both playlists to the device rhapsody will only copy the song once and just link it to both play lists on the device. You dont have to worry about it ever copying the same song twice and wasting space.
It comes with a USB cable that doubles as a charger. Many people have complaind about this but thats only becuase they dont realize that the USB ports on all computer provide power even when the computer is turned off. THATS RIGHT!!!. you can charge this device by pluggin it in to your computer when its turned off. Charging takes about 3 hours if you run the battery totaly dead. I used this thing all day for the better part of 15 hours and it still showed half battery power left. im sure it was less than that but OMG the battery life is amazing.
The LCD is 1.8" and extreamly clear, bright, (can be dimmed in the settings) easy to read and the graphics are crisp and the motion of the menus is fluid. the best way to put it is that the way it responds to your touch just feels natural. The OS repsonds quickly with no lag between pressing buttons and the action occuring. There is no lag between songs changing.
The only 2 things about this that are negative are the feel of the scroll wheel and the 10-15 second start up time when you power it on. The scroll wheel feels cheap but its proven so far to never get caught up and it has functioned perfectly with out fail. The start up time feels a little slow but how often do you have to turn it on.
I have pioneer deck in my car that I bought and installed the AUX plug for so I could connect this to my car sterio. It worked perfectly.
The sound quality from this device has been absolutely perfect. even when running it through my car sterio. It has a custom EQ that you can set once the firmware has been updated. If for some reason you are not satified with the sound Rhapsody gives you the option of selecting what bit rate you want the songs to be transfered in. that default is 192K but you can go as high as 384K it will just eat up more room on the device. the alternate to this is you can lower the quality should desire and be able to load about 1300 songs at 128k but I dont recommend that.
This thing looks cool, feels good in my hand, feels very sturdy. You just have to get over the scroll wheel and the small buttons.
