"Why do the Shuffle when you can light a Fuze?"
Pros: Low price. Easy use. No need for a good memory. No hamster keys. Long battery life. Vista likes it. Sharp FM tuning. Fast charge. Comes with protective pouch. Nice sized screen.
Cons: Haven't tripped over anything yet.
Summary: This is my first mp3 player so I'm cherry. One of my offspring was mumbling about getting an Apple iPod Shuffle 1 GB. I pulled up Amazon.com and found the critter for around $50. I followed a link to Sandisk. After nosing around for a while, I found the Sandisk Sansa Fuze 4 GB for about $10 - $15 more at Amazon.com. I came over to Cnet and checked the reviews. Like most Apple products, the Shuffle seemed cost rather more than necessary for what you get. I didn't like the idea of having to try to remember what was loaded on it and 1 GB seems pretty anemic. So, I bought a 4 GB Fuze. There was no problem syncing it with my laptop; all my albums loaded right onto it while it charged (full charge took 1 1/2 hours). No program download was needed. The sound is nice. The screen lets me see what is available, what is playing, and what is next. The FM tuning is crisp and sounds good. I admit I haven't tried the video yet, as my albums took up all the space. I plan to order the 8 GB microSDHC (no doubt I'll be in the market for the 20 GB that someone will probably roll out in a hour and a half -- like Tim on "Home Improvement" says, "More Power! More Power!"). For a serious nontech (I have learned to keep my fingers from between the rocks when I hit them together), the Fuze is an excellent little rig.
