"True Worth" on by vophsi
Pros: The only two groups that might be interested would be the older set that want something simple but that has some tech like a Jitterbug phone. It has tech, but is scaled down and easy to use. The other group is parents who are cost conscious.
Cons: The name really has to go. It's not catchy, flashy or even short. In essence, it's not memorable which definitely is not a selling point, especially for older people.
Summary: This would be a great product for someone who wants tech, but not complicated tech. The name needs to be changed.

"This player is simple and provides excellant sound." on by ToyCollector
Pros: Simple to operate, small in size, no moving parts, a perfect compilation, pod cast and fabulous audio book player. Anything that does not require searching or a great deal of tabing through the files. Plays MP3 or WMA files, BIG PLUS!
Cons: No power supply or rechargable battery. Nothing to prohibit reliability.
Summary: The Sansa SlotMusic Player is one easy to use device. This is perfect for that person that has waited or did not want to make the transition to the Ipud players. Controls are easy to use, very handy and music variety can be changed by inserting a different Micro Disc. Plays MP3 files, though limited in range sound ok and WMA files. WMA files is what are recorded on CD discs ( wink ). CNET failed to mention that one. Recording to the MicroDisc can be as simple as drag and drop with your computer. a very easy task for your compilations. Keeping compilatons small will make searching for favorites easy to do. Larger files such as POD CASTS and AUDIO BOOKS will play back effortlessly and with the MP3 format, though limited sound quality, will sound good enough . Another great use is for large compilations you create for when you travel that you may just hit play and just it play. Great for ear buds or use the transmitter that allows playing on the radio.
This unit failed on its original debut and is now being sold in the discount electronic stores for half price. It is a great deal for the price and even though its original intent was rather narrow minded, there are so many more things that it can do, almost anything audio that you can think of. Search for the manual, it is available in PDF format. Remember to think "out of the box" for using this great little player. Personally, I thought the CNET review was a bit limited and negative toward the product.....TC -
"This mp3 player doesn't want to run my life!" on by TheBarefootMailman
Pros: No podcasts, no FM, no Marketplace, no Social. I can plug a MicroSD card in the computer and export a playlist from Winamp. Read this as: No Bloatware (MSFT or AAPL) I use rechargable AAA batteries.
Cons: I think the SlotMusic concept is dated and flawed. The only thing missing is shuffle. .
Summary: Some reviewers indicate that this is a device for old and/or non technical people. I am technical and have been writing software for over 20 years. I like this player because it is simple - but not condescending! It is simply perfect! SanDisk built a great player, but for the wrong reasons. Ignore this devices intended use and go with standard cards and your own mixes. I use standard 1 & 2GB cards. I may buy a second player just in case SanDisk stops selling these or I lose mine. I have a Zune -> I hate it and never use it! I found this player a week after buying a Zune. Now I cry, "I bought too Zune!"

Pros: -Solid Build
-AAA is easy to change
-Plays unprotected Mp3's like a charm
-Resumes playback at the same trackCons: -resumes playback EVERY TIME!! bad for 4gb card
-i think no way to skip forward to the next folder
-you need to shuffle your songs before you put the microsd card in: http://www.anythingbutipod.com/forum/showthread.php?t=37670Summary: For $20, you get what you pay for. That being said, that's either a good thing or a bad thing, personally, I love it.

"Great alternative to the Ipod Shuffle!" on by am_hollitz
Pros: Compact Design still has substance.
No computer required
Recognizes Micro SD Cards of varying sizesCons: DOES NOT WORK WITH ITUNES (VERY IMPORTANT)
Swapping hard-to-label Tiny Micro SDs can be hard to keep track of music
15 hours of music playback per 1 AAA battery = expensive power consumptionSummary: Full disclosure: I do not own this product. But I see the market niche it fills (Technophobes, the workout crowd, and kids under 12), and believe it to be superior (both in features and price) to its primary rival, the Ipod Shuffle.
That said, this product shouldn't be defined by what it's not. There are plenty of mid-range and high grade MP3 players out there with view screens, FM receivers, and playback options.
But for what it is, the benefits are numerous: It's a cheap player (can be lost or broken without too much heartache); it's lightweight but still has some substance; it has swapable MicroSD cards of varying sizes to meet your download content needs (1 GB Cards are cheap and accessible, 16gb cards hold a TON of music for long road trips); and for those who don't have a computer, you can play the device on one AAA battery without the need to charge it via USB plug or wall socket charger (less accessories to keep track of.)
Yes, there are drawbacks. Specifically it does not work with ITunes. Those familiar with Rhapsody or Yahoo! Music know this isn't really a problem, but the techno-illiterate and children need to be aware of this, especially since all they've heard from friends, family and media is ITunes, ITunes, ITunes. Also, there aren't a lot of accessories for this product and there probably won't be too many to come since it's not likely to be a HOT product.
Still, this is a GREAT product for people who A) want more from a mini MP3 player and/or B) don't know that there's more to want from an MP3 player.
