Pros Easy to use
Variety of music
Cons No cons.. I see no reason not use it ...
Summary I stumbled into Slot Radio in the midst of single motherhood, 2 kids and a full time job. So you can imagine how little time I had to invest in these so-called ?techy? toys like the I-pod or the I-phone or anything else starting with ?I?.
Although I work in IT, I would not consider myself a technical person; I have neither the time nor the inclination to deal with downloads, software or gadgets that suck most of my time rather than provide me with what I really need: effortless indulgence.
And then I tried Sansa's Slot Radio ?.
While most of my co-workers use I-pod as their music provider, I prefer listening to the Radio. And why? Simple! I don?t need to download anything or work hours searching for songs and I get a good variety of new stuff out there without having to lift a finger.. grant it, I need to put up with some radio commercials.. but so far it?s a small price to pay for everything that radio provides me: effortless indulgence. Until I tried Slot Radio.
Slot Radio provides me all that Radio does Without the commercials !! gulp ? is that possible? Yes it is !!
I found Slot Radio easy to use ? one page manual ! and containing a variety of hundreds of songs. No internet searching, no downloading, no wasted time. It?s a small device (smaller than I-pod even) I can hold at the palm of my hands, reasonable pricing and tons of variety. Just what I needed: effortless indulgence !!!
"Slot Radio Card"on by pkincy
Pros None I can think of
Cons If you want to pay $29.99 for a revolving advertisement it is great. But I am not high on hearing ads for slot radio and no music.
Pros LOTS, LOTS, LOTS of good tunes CHEAP. Ease of use.
Cons NO flexibilility: No rewind, replay, random selection.
Summary Disclaimer: have a SANSA FUZE with slot radio capability (same difference I just have additional functionality). SLOT RADIO does 1 thing REALLY WELL. It INSTANTLY puts 1,000 hit songs (on an SD card) in your MP3 player CHEAP, and it plays them in order from 1 - 1000. That is ALL it does. NO rewind, no replay, no shuffle, no pick n choose..
IF you accept it for what it is (a niche product) you'll love it. IF you want to pick your songs, play them in some custom order, want ultra HIFI, or you're picky about that kind of thing look elsewhere (and be ready to pay a LOT more for your music).
I bought the VH-1 Classics micro-sd card from BestBuy, and I LOVE 98% of the tracks on here. It's been 2 weeks of almost continious play, and I haven't started over yet. There's ALL kinds of music on here (all Billboard top 100) POP type stuff, but a good variety from high energy, to melodic, to funky, to rock. Stevie Wonder, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Commodores, Foo Fighters, Police, Garbage, No Doubt, to name a few. If that's not your speed, then check out the other sd cards: Classical, Metal, Country, Decades (60's, 70's, 80's, 90's, 00's)... etc. at <$40.00 a disk for 1000 songs, you can't go wrong! And don't over look the fact that you're not messing with device storage capacity. This is all Micro SD based, so you swap out a card, and in with 1000 more songs instantly. JUST REMEMBER - you don't get to pick the order so when you swap cards, the playlist resets....
If you don't like a song on the disc, hit SKIP and you won't hear it again for a long long time.
I used to like Pandora Radio, and streaming radio, but there's connectivity issues, delays, and limits. With SLOT RADIO you get a good variety, and good (NOT great) quality music. Again, IF you want HIFI - go buy a good system!
Rock on. J
Pros 1. Wide selection of great music.
2. Rediscovered a lot of music I forgot about.
3. Good price, 1000 songs for $40. No download required.
Cons 1. You can't delete songs or repeat songs.
2. May get stuck on a playlist and you need to repeat it several times before it shuffles to another list.
3. Uses a little more power than the normal functions.
Summary I bought the 80s and 90s slotradio card about 3 months ago. I listen to the card daily, along with other music on my Fuze. I would buy another card if I could get more recent music (2000 to now).
The only problems I've had is the playlists not shuffling. I listen to the same 40 songs twice before it goes to the next list. It's understandable that you can't playback a song or delete a song, because it's suppose to be like radio, hence the name slotradio.
Overall, I still like it and will continue listening to my slotradio.
Pros Nothing is good about this unit. Stuck on the slotradio commercial. One ear phone plug doesn't work, and only downloaded 6 songs. Am getting REAL SICK of hearing DannyBoy..But, it did keep a charge. Mostly from my credit card. NOT WORTH IT..
Cons it's a good concept. But unfortunately another fine product from China. Wonder it didn't turn my ear green..
Summary Save your money..
