Super amazing battery life...

Pros: Super amazing battery life, it can hold more with atrac3plus

Cons: Not that easy to navigate 500 songs with a little screen and control thingy.

Review: The battery life is super amazing! 50-70 hours on one AAA battery, beats everything else. Most other mp3 players are 10-20 hours. It can hold much more with atrac3plus then mp3. Encoded at 48kbps atrac3plus its comparable to 128kbps mp3. My mp3 collection is 2.6 GB, in atrac3plus its under 1 GB. The backlight seems to drain the battery quite fast though. It comes with really nice earbuds, though the cord for them is odd. Its like a Y, though one of the top parts of the Y is short, one is long... Comes with a neck strap. The software it uses isnt the best... Well, if your looking for a small sized flash mp3 player with amazing battery life, to hold just under 600 songs, get this.

Here's a case for the E99

Pros: Size, Battery Life,SQ

Cons: No case otherwise zilch.

Review: This is my first DAP/MP3 player and very happy with it. The size is incredible. Don't be put off by SonicStage - V3 is better.

Contrary to what other people have said this does player NATIVE MP3(yes that's not been converted to ATRAC - rwad the manual guys!)
Personally I've gone down the ATRAC3 route to get more music on there.

If you are looking for a case try a ZIPPO lighter case. I bought a leather one for around $3 and fits perfectly. Just cut a hole in the case for the headphone jack. Also look at Compact Flash cases from Lowepro & SanDisk and MP3 cases from Crumpler.

Love to Hate Sony "MP3" player

Pros: Most compact; Aesthetically Hi-tech appeal; Simple Interface; Good fit/finish; great battery life; backlit LCD display; decent Bass response.

Cons: ***NO NATIVE MP3 SUPPORT!!!!!*** ; OEM Earbuds very basic but usable; Fingerprints unavoidable; NON-Big Hand/Finger friendly (ie. puny buttons) ****** NO CASE???*** ; etc etc

Review: This is one of those Sony LOVE TO HATE got-to-have-but-wish-you-could-find-something-better-gadget must haves. On the one hand, its styled so beautifully, you just have to look past some SERIOUSLY glaring marketing mistakes. For starters, THIS IS NOT AN MP3 player as some are calling it. And Sony does a VERY good job of *asterisk-sizing* the fact that this player will only play MP3s ONLY AFTER maditory file conversion which BTW, is only one way ie. non-readable by other programs. So what you end up with is an MP3 file whose algorithm is being re-compress and re-compiled. The end result is a slightly weaker signal ratio and lossy-ier highs. Remarkably, I am able to see past this shotfall as I'm a sucker for aesthetics and design. Besides, the sound output is good enough for my needs (gym/run/etc) at the moment. Other than that, you really must buy a better set of headphones. I'm looking for a skin/case for this puppy, as the finish will get scratched in no time, (that is, if you can see past all your fingerprints first ;) Ahh Sony, why do you torture me.... Using this as a 1GIG flash drive is good as the transfer speed is half decent.

WISH LIST: Mem/Stick Duo slot; Dual LCD display; Form fitting Skin case!!; FULL NATIVE MP3 SUPPORT!; Live Tagging for favorates; different finish that doesn't show fingerprints; Line in control stick that you can attach any earphones to.

Could have more but is great a what it does.

Pros: Small enough to put in your pocket for a workout, and can fit a lot more music than I thought for 1G with the Atrac3 plus compresion.

Cons: USB cover is held by a flimsy peice of plastic. LCD display could be bigger with more lines. No tagging to make a favorite playlist. Volume could be louder but loud enough. No carrying accesories.

Review: I bought the NW-E99 and the Rio Forge Sport to compare because I couldn't decide and the former takes the prize. The battery life is unchallenged, and number of songs is a nice suprise. I was a little flustered when I couldn't find a accessorie small enough to carry it. I did find however a small cell phone case that did the job nicely for $10.00. When you hit play it is instant. At first I was afraid of breaking it, it is so small but I wouldn't have it any other way. Whats great is you can wear it around your neck like a neckless and it looks stylish. It seems more durable than the Rio.
Updated
One final not is that Sony's ATRACplus format alows you to compress more songs than the other 1GB players out there. I tested three more,RCA, RIO, iRIVER and they carry half as much. THAT'S INCREDIBLE!!!!
Updated
The nobb that jogs forward and back is wearing and since I did purchase the three year warranty I am going to trade it in for the new walkman Bean when it comes out. Exactly the same but sporting a FM tuner and internal rechargable battery. I would be perfectly happy with the minor inconvinience but I am affraid it will get worse. I still give it two thumbs up though!!!!!!!

iPod what?

Pros: Very small, very light, very long battery live. Roomy, user friendly, play it all (well, almost). Nice, hold setting switch and other accessible interface can be reach without seeing it.

Cons: Tiny LCD somewhat not in a correct orientation. Software not very intuitive. Remote is not included.

2*500MB MP3-Player

Pros: size & weight Capacity (is 2 * 500 MB) only 1 Battery (AAA) is required Battery life No installations is req. when you only wish to use mp3 format

Cons: headphonecord to short even with extension cord must use manager program that is preinstalled on player Price Capacity divided in 2 sections Mp3 file must be 44kHZ Only USB 1.1

Excellent, but still isn't perfect.

Pros: I love this player. The battery life alone is worth the money. 70 hours, wow. It's small, and very easy to control.

Cons: Not everyone likes ATRAC technology. I can tell a big difference in sound. You simply can't reduce a song down to 48 kbps and expect it to sound good. The high frequency sounds, such as chimes and snares sound terrible, and the overal quality of the song

Seemed good....

Pros: memory batery life it looked and worked good...for the first week

Cons: After like 1 week there was a lot of condensation on the inside of the screen. i am going to return it and buy a larger HD based mp3 player.

nice light

Pros: lightweight and nice looking compared to all the other players i have been looking at and teh price was ok.

Cons: small display and buttons would also be nice to have a radio but then it would cost more.

this is sick................

Pros: small size - forget the photos, its smaller about the size and weight of a 9volt batt. Great sound and bass. You can add mp3 with ease. Bottom line if you want a small, great player without the uneeded "extras" such as a radio, weak battery that always ne

High Quality Product

Pros: Small, versatile, excellent durability, excellent sound quality, and very easy to use.

Cons: Supplied software is slow transferring, but the older version of Sonicstage was much much slower and I did notice an improvement. The supplied strap isn't very good, so if they come out with one, invest money into it. The buttons are small, but if you h

great 1gig flash mp3 player

Pros: Excellent sound at 64 kbps Atracplus, and even good sound at 48kbps. It's definitely superior to mp3. Very small, easy to use. Great shuttle feature makes it easy to switch songs.

Cons: No FM tuner. Would be nice if it had an arm band with it. Conversion takes a bit longer, but nothing to fret about.

One AAA batt lasts and lasts

Pros: I chose this flash player because it looks slick, is tiny & light, has enough memory for me, an LCD display and sounds great. (I like low-end freq bass sound. Ipod has great high end to me, but not low end freq. This product has norm, S1 & S2 bo

Cons: Now that said, the software, Sonic Stage, takes getting used to. It isn't as feature filled as Itunes and file transfers are very slow. Not as slow as my RIOport Mgr software, but not fast enough. MP3 transfer uses separate software actually on the pla

Smokes the other players I tried!

Pros: The sound of Atrac3plus files at 66 is WAY better than mp3 at 128. This thing will hold 680 songs and that is more music than I will use. The size is amazing and the battery life is unmatched for a replaceable AAA. Computer savvy people will have no pr

Cons: Headphones are not good, but $10 on another set made a HUGE difference in SQ. No other cons.

Nice but over priced

Pros: Nice & small. Sony reliability. Long battery life with AAA battery. 1 GB can hold enough favorite songs.

Cons: Over-priced. The iPod Shuffle are cheaper, better & more stylish.

Marathon battery life, easy to use, does the job

Pros: Very small, lightweight, amazing battery life, looks good, sounds good through decent headphones/stereo speakers, easy to modify settings on player (volume, bass, treble), nice shuttle switch for skipping tracks/folders, ATRACplus compression sounds prett

Cons: Slow transfer, MP3 manager isn't very versatile but it does the job (I find it easiest to organise the tracks/folders in Windows then transfer in one step - not too much of a problem for me but it could be annoying if you want to change tracks frequently)

Sony NW E-99 quality product with Amazing sound

Pros: The NW E-99 is smaller than most others, such as the iRiver 700 series and many Creative products. It also feels durable and of high quality, not like many others that feel flimsy. The first element that bought me is the sound that comes out of this thing

Cons: No armband case released yet. No FM tuner. The display screen is small. I've actually found the simplicity an asset, as I believe they spent the time for the sound to be great, instead of adding extras (which I know I won't use anyways)

Do we really neeed more than 1GB ?

Pros: Very Small 1GB Easy Software MP3 compatible INTERCHANGEABLE BATTERIES Listening to more than 2 hours of music nonstop is impossible if not ridiculous. The average human will like approx 100 of their favorite songs. The rest is just songs that they have

Cons: Should have color options (red, blue, orange, black)

Review:

User Rating: 8/10

excellent flash player

Pros: tiny...size of a Zippo lighter...holds 1 Gig, also usable as an external drive...excellent sound quality...ATRAC3 is clearer than other formats and more compressed, so you can add more songs than comparable devices...for some reason people complain about

Cons: wish it had a nicer equalizer...earbuds were ok, so an upgrade is recommended...other than that, its great...upgraded the earphones and the difference was very noticable...ipod clones will undoubtedly hate it, even though its apples and oranges...
