"A MINIMALIST GR8 MP3 PLAYER" on by shhunyo

    Pros: COMPaCT,stylish,hardy,good sound quality,xcellent battery

Cons: small buttons, difficult 2 see in sunlight,no recording

Summary: i say it again..its a minimalist mp3 player.so dont xpect much featyures but stil after i bought it i got more than i xpected.
am from india, here ipods r still costly..so i went for sunthin affordable ,yet good quality, hardy for da tough n rough conditions in my town, and i found da answer in this.
YES IT IS AN MP3 PLAYER ,not just atrac player. it PLAYS MP3.AND U CAN CHOOSE THE FORMAT IN THE SETTINGS.
i use win xp ,pentium 4, 256mb ram and it takes 8-10 secs per song to download as mp3
    mine also hav fm.
    sound n battery very good
only display is difficult 2 read in sun but even lcd screens go fade in the sun....also buttons are small,i think to make da player compact.
its has search options, sort,fm,other stuffs in settings includin for left handed users.
in short gr8 stuff for the lil amount i paid

"Rubbish - just put it back in the box" on by philfromtheuk

Pros: Small, light and nicely designed

Cons: I just want to throw some MP3's on my player, I dont want to have to install more software.

Summary: Lets get the obvious positives out of the way. Its a nice looking and well designed player that is easily lost in the pocket. Its perfect for keeping in your jacket or laptop case for those times when you don’t have your main player. But then Sony goes and messes it all up by requiring you to add another bit of software to your machine. I just want to throw some tracks on it but no – I have to transfer and convert them etc etc. So as far as I am concerned its back in the box and back to the retailer. Shame on you Sony!

"Dont buy this" on by blackfive1

    Pros: Pretty and good looking.

    Cons: too long to list

Summary: Do not buy this. It is NOT an mp3 player, it does not play mp3s or wma. If you are prepared to wait for the 30 minutes it takes for the awful software to install (on a 2.8gig intel!)you will eventually be disappointed to find (after you've worked it all out and dismissed the screen that invites you to buy tracks and finally got it to list your mp3 tracks) that the software has to convert all your files to some obscure format before they play. Win2000 detects it straight away, you can copy your mp3s, even play them back through windows media player, but.. they won't play on the device until they're converted, it just says no data. Sony, putting tracks on this could just be a few seconds of drag and drop? And from the makers of the fantastic playstation. Very very VERY poor and missleading.

"You pay with frustration for the low cost" on by hfp22

    Pros: Compact, FM Tuner

    Cons: SonicStage, screen in daytime

Summary: SonicStage just sucks! It is an impractical software from the DRM Nazis Sony/BMG. Need I say more? The FM Tuner works well enough for such a small device, great at the gym. Buttons are a bit difficult to press, you need to have skinny fingers and be sitting still in a dim place. The navigation is not practical. If you can live without the FM tuner, buy the iPod Shuffle instead! I also own a shuffle and I like it.
