"This little guy makes the iPod Shuffle about as appealing as an ugly pack of gum"

    by G1ll on April 22, 2005

Pros: Decent sound quality, looks great, easy to use, top of the line battery life

Cons: Poor headphone quality (no surprise here), software can be finicky, scant accessories, lack of colors for player body

Summary: This little guy makes the iPod Shuffle about as appealing as an ugly pack of gum for the purpose of playing music.

I've had a careful eye out for a practical MP3 player for about 100 bucks, and I couldn't find much until this little guy came out. This player boasts great sound quality and seems to have decent bass response from what I could tell with my craptastic headphones. The battery life is what really caught my eye; I've read that although this Walkman is advertised to get about 70 hours on a single AAA battery, realistically it should be in the 50-60 hour range which is still unbeatable. The Shuffle only gets about an advertised 12 hours, realistically a bit less.

This isn't a perfect player, however. The software can be picky sometimes and tends to lock up for a few seconds when its confused. The player only comes with a CD, manual, and a pair of headphones. The headphones that were included were about the same quality as airplane 'phones that you can buy for a few bucks. Another small issue that bothered me was the lack of color choice for the player body. The 256MB version comes with a cool black scheme, but the 512MB version comes with slightly less appealing white and blue versions. The best looking one in my opinion is the 1GB version which comes in a trendy silver.

Bottom line: Although this player comes with scant accessories and finicky software, the player itself is excellent and is worth every penny of its street price.

Can't expect anything else from biased reviews. This guy wants everything Apple supplies; reliability, industrial design, colors and quality as long as it is not an apple product. Damed if you do and damed if you don't.

I did not like it much as these funda's of groups are out of my head u press forward button and the whole group gets forwarded irespective of the fact how many songs it has and the 2nd group starts playing.Well if i forward it only a song should get forwarded and not the group.lanning to return it and buy something else.
